Apparently the chair of the House Judiciary Committee will not be calling the gun ban up for a vote. That would indicate that they do not have the votes. Gun owners in Illinois have been heard. Now remember, the lame duck session continues to Wednesday. After Wednesday, all bills die and will have to be reintroduced in the next session of the new legislature. We are not out of the woods yet, but it would seem that we’ve beaten back this early attack. They will attack elsewhere in the mean time. Rest is for the weak.
"They will attack elsewhere in the mean time. Rest is for the weak."

ILLINOIS HOUSE ADJOURNS WITH NO MOVEMENT ON GUN BILLS – BUT DO NOT BE MISLED!
As reported earlier, the House version of the Cullerton Gun Grab Bill was supposed to be debated before the House Judiciary Committee I at 2:00 PM today. The Chairman of the committee convened the committee, announced that there would be no gun bills debated for the rest of the session, then adjourned.
From all appearances, this was the end of the push for gun control in the legislature this session. But, don’t be confused – the session ends Wednesday. There is nothing saying that the legislature couldn’t call the bills anyway. So, be on guard and watch for alerts from the ISRA.
Also, be advised that the newly elected legislature, the 98th General Assembly, gets gaveled into action on Wednesday as well. With several pro-gun stalwarts leaving the legislature, and several brand new gun grabbers to contend with, the next session of the General Assembly promises to be turbulent times for law-abiding gun owners. We will update you as issues arise.
In short, the entire ISRA lobbying staff would like to say “THANKS” to all those gun owners who stood up this week and told the General Assembly, “NO. . . you can’t take our guns!” The huge response and reaction by the gun-owning public is largely responsible for the failure on the part of Senate President John Cullerton to move his massive gun grab this week.

MADIGAN REQUESTS FULL 7TH CIRCUIT REHEARING IN PUBLIC CARRY CASE
Chicago — Attorney General Lisa Madigan today announced she has filed a petition for rehearing before the full U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in lawsuits challenging the Illinois laws that prevent the carrying of ready-to-use firearms in public.
The Attorney General’s petition for a rehearing “en banc” is a request for all of the judges on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals to review the case after a December decision by a three-judge panel of the court held that the state laws barring carrying ready-to-use firearms in public are unconstitutional.
Madigan’s petition was filed in lawsuits brought against the State of Illinois by Michael Moore, Mary E. Shepard and the Illinois State Rifle Association, which allege that Illinois’ restrictions on the carrying of ready-to-use weapons in public violates their Second Amendment rights. The laws had previously been upheld by two separate federal district courts in Illinois.
In its December decision, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals set a 180-day deadline for the Illinois legislature to draft and enact new laws relating to carrying ready-to-use firearms in public. Today’s petition for rehearing by the Attorney General does not affect that deadline.
Madigan issued the following statement regarding her decision to seek a rehearing:
“In ruling that Illinois must allow individuals to carry ready-to-use firearms in public, the 7th Circuit Court’s decision goes beyond what the U.S. Supreme Court has held and conflicts with decisions by two other federal appellate courts. Based on those decisions, it is appropriate to ask the full 7th Circuit to review this case and consider adopting an approach that is consistent with the other appellate courts that have addressed these issues after the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark Heller and McDonald decisions.”

Dear...:
Thank you for your message about gun control. I appreciate knowing your views on this important issue.
Americans are entitled to own and use guns in a responsible fashion. Strong penalties for violent crimes involving firearms should be part of any effort to reduce gun violence. I have consistently supported tough crime control and prevention initiatives since coming to Congress.
Enforcing our nation’s existing gun control laws must remain a high priority. I support efforts that address illegal possession and use of firearms. Common sense restrictions such as the Brady Law and the Assault Weapons Ban are supported by law enforcement officials who must patrol our streets. These laws help protect people from crime and violence without infringing on legitimate hunting and sporting uses of firearms.
I will continue to support efforts that help ensure our nation’s gun laws are vigorously enforced. Thank you once again for contacting me.
Please feel free to stay in touch.
Sincerely,
Richard J. Durbin
United States Senator
Dear...:
Thank you for contacting me regarding your thoughts on gun laws in America. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know your views on this important issue.
You raised some interesting and insightful points regarding this subject, especially in light of the recent tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. My thoughts and prayers remain with the families and friends of those affected by this unspeakable tragedy. At this trying time, we must show our sympathy, pray for and stand together with the people of Connecticut, as well as all the friends and loved ones of the victims and survivors.
I understand that there will be a national discussion about our gun laws and what actions could be taken to prevent such horrific crimes in the future. This is matter on which reasonable people often disagree. However, I believe we can work together to find answers that most importantly protect innocent lives, as well as constitutional rights, and at the same time find ways to stop unstable people from committing these incomprehensible crimes in the first place. I look forward to contributing to this discussion and working with my colleagues in Congress to address this important debate.
Thank you again for contacting with your thoughts. In the meantime, if you wish to share additional information with me concerning this issue or any other, please feel free to contact me by calling, emailing, writing, or faxing me. Please be advised that mail sent to my Washington office is subject to an additional two-week delay due to increased mail security.
If I can be of further assistance to you regarding this or any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am always happy to respond and be of service to you.
Sincerely,

Went to Cabela's on Sunday afternoon and they are completely sold out of any decent bulk .22 long rifle ammo, and only have a little bit of .22 long rifle left.

Needless to say the days of buying .223 ammo and ammo for an AK-47in bulk, in the local gun stores, are long gone!
HERE is the email I received from my state representative, Chris Nybo, pursuant to one of my several emails sent and phone calls made to voice my oppossition to what the liberal left wants to do to our second amendment rights:
Dear James,
Thank you for contacting me regarding potential gun control laws. I value the perspectives of all the people I’m privileged to represent, and appreciate that you took the time to express your view of this bill.
I can appreciate your concern about adding gun restrictions. Rest assured that I have always supported the 2nd amendment rights and have voted accordingly. My staff and I are always grateful for any additional information we receive from citizens. We are committed to researching as many of the issues brought to our attention as possible. I will consider your input carefully as this issue moves forward.
In the meantime, thank you again for contacting our office, and please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Sincerely,
Chris Nybo

There was cause why the founding fathers saw need for such a provision as the King of England’s absolute rule and taxes was prime example, and therefore reason why such a standard must be maintained in balance with which to stave off any possible form(s) of government that attempt to overstep it bounds and circumvent this as well as other rights of the very people (nation) from which it derives its powers and foundation for existence.
Mr. Biden (Public SERVANT No.2) only further illustrates how the tingling sensation of absolute power can be within the numbness of a human mind when in a state of self-absorption.
Times may change but people not so much for what was absolute power then still is in parts of the world today …just under a different guise, sometimes even pathetically referred to as a democracy.

(Not bad for an 18 year old law student!)
"For the present I should like merely to understand how it happens that so many men, so many villages, so many cities, so many nations, sometimes suffer under a single tyrant who has no other power than the power they give him; who is able to harm them only to the extent to which they have the willingness to bear with him; who could do them absolutely no injury unless they preferred to put up with him rather than contradict him.
Liberty is the natural condition of the people. Servitude, however, is fostered when people are raised in subjection. People are trained to adore rulers. While freedom is forgotten by many there are always some who will never submit."
Etienne de La Boétie 1548 (?)
