"Dear Friends,
As many of you already know, last week the House convened the “lame duck” session of the 97th General Assembly. There was much talk about hot button issues being brought to the floor and a wide range of potential legislation. However, in the end very little was actually accomplished and the House adjourned “sine die” on Tuesday afternoon, bringing a close to the 97th General Assembly.
The lame duck session began with Senate President John Cullerton focusing his efforts on a gay marriage bill and two anti-second amendment bills; all of which failed to be called for a vote. At a time when the average Illinoisan is struggling to get by, Medicaid costs continue to grow, and our pension system is underfunded by nearly $100 billion, we should have been focusing on the deepest problems facing Illinois and work to find real solutions.
The House had multiple bills that would have made changes to the current pension system, seeking to save Illinois taxpayer money and save the pension systems for the state employees who have paid their share into the fund. Speaker Madigan, however, refused to call any of the pension proposals for a vote or even lift a finger all week to help pass any kind of reform. The sponsors of the pension reform bills have vowed to pick up the pieces and reintroduce the legislation in the new 98th General Assembly, which was sworn in last Wednesday, January 9th.
The only major bill passed during this lame duck session was a piece of legislation to allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses. The proponents of this bill argued that by licensing and requiring auto insurance our roads will be safer; however, I believe it is the Federal government that must act to address the growing problem of illegal immigration within the United States and that this current legislation will do little more than to incentivize breaking the law.
Nevertheless, I am anxious to return to Springfield with the new members of the General Assembly and get to work addressing the many problems facing Illinois. We must finally act on our ballooning pension debt, the ever expanding Medicaid costs, and the overall unfriendly business climate in Illinois. I truly believe that the only way to get Illinois’ budget back on track is to get Illinoisans back to work.
I am very honored to have been reelected as your State Representative for the 98th General Assembly and I promise to keep you informed of new legislation as it advances through the House during the new session. I am confident that we can solve the problems plaguing Illinois and I am ready for the tough fight ahead.

4. If you see members of the media there, don't wait for them to come to you. Rather, actively approach them, tell them you are a law-abiding firearm owner, and then tell them that you adamantly oppose punitive gun control laws being proposed by the organizers, Obama, and Emanuel. Make sure the media hears our side of the story first, and often!
5. Bring your children, grand children, and other young people with you. They are the next generation of patriots. Let them see how effective grassroots organizing works! If there is a question and answer session, have your children ask the organizers why they want to leave kids and their parents defenseless against criminals.

Obama unveils $500 million gun violence package
WASHINGTON — Without waiting for Congress, President Barack Obama on Wednesday announced a sweeping $500 million program to curb gun violence, setting up a fight over universal background checks and bans on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines, in the wake of the Connecticut school shooting.
Obama also used his presidential powers to issue 23 orders that don't require congressional approval. The largely incremental executive steps include requiring federal agencies to make more data available for background checks, appointing a fulltime director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and directing the Centers for Disease Control to research gun violence.
But the president, speaking at the White House, acknowledged the most effective actions must be taken by lawmakers.
"To make a real and lasting difference, Congress must act," Obama said. "And Congress must act soon."

President Obama’s pushback against gun violence focuses heavily on new firearm restrictions and on mental health, but video games and movies — two cultural issues that many Americans blame for violence — get little attention.
WASHINGTON — Without waiting for Congress, President Barack Obama on Wednesday announced a sweeping $500 million program to curb gun violence, setting up a fight over universal background checks and bans on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines, in the wake of the Connecticut school shooting.
Obama also used his presidential powers to issue 23 orders that don't require congressional approval. The largely incremental executive steps include requiring federal agencies to make more data available for background checks, appointing a fulltime director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and directing the Centers for Disease Control to research gun violence.
But the president, speaking at the White House, acknowledged the most effective actions must be taken by lawmakers.
"To make a real and lasting difference, Congress must act," Obama said. "And Congress must act soon."

Here is my take on Ossama Nobama's proposed War on Guns going on right now and dominating the News.
This Country is truely divided and President Bozama has divided us more than any other President! He is dumb, but not stupid enough to know that taking away the guns from law abiding citizens in this Country just isn't going to happen and won't work (and he knows it)!
His executive orders on 2nd amendment issues are as worthless as the toilet paper he writes them on. He may get his 1994 Assault Rifle Ban and High Capacity Mag ban, but its going to be a long fight for him to get that with our strong gun lobby enough republicans in the house of represenatives and senate. Ossam Bin Obama is just posturing to his tree hugging liberal left and is blowing smoke up some people asses.
Those who support this loser socialist President of ours, is the other half of the Country who is eating quiche, sipping their wine and cheese, and coddling little Joey, and pussifying him to the 10th degree, in what has become the PUSSIFICATION of American the last 25 years.
Bottom Line:
Too many guns in this country folks (300 million) the vast majority in the hands of law abiding citizens, and the country was built on GOD, Guns and Guts; not Muslims, sling shots and panzy/candy azzes, and Nobama will not be able to come close to pull off what he would like to do. DON'T get me wrong, we can't be relax here, and most take the fight to these gun grabbing liberal losers, every step of the way, b/c the battles are raging on now, but we will win the WAR against guns, if we fight like us Americans know how to fight, and 50% of us still know how to do that!
