They way people have been driving lately I hope they double the force. I do 65 in a 55 in the middle lane and they are tailgating and cutting myself and others off. The roads are out of control period. They also have lines painted on Ocean Parkway for the choppers to mark you speed. Cruising at 75 is not worth the ticket and insurance cost for 4 years. He may not get the Goat back

I have noticed since returning to NY that people here have no understanding that the left lane is the PASSING lane, and that slower traffic should stay right. In MA if you are in the left lane you must pass a vehicle in one mile, otherwise you can be ticketed. I have run into many people who sit in the left lane at or near the speed limit and won't move to let faster traffic by. It's almost as if they believe it is their DUTY to slow traffic down! I actually think such a practice is very dangerous, as it encourages people to weave in and out of traffic.

That is different, I know in my town they found kids who did not live here but gave a local address of a friend or relative because our schools were better then where they lived. The school system went after them to try to recoup the cost of a student per year, but it is not easy to do as well as the overhead involved in trying to recoup the money.

I agree.I think slower drivers,especially in the left lane,a more dangerous than speeders.What really gets me is when 3 idiots stay across the 3 lanes and drive slow,blocking off the entire hiway.

This crackdown started happening even before we did the 5 borough run, in fact, we were commenting on it before we did it. That day, there were cops all over the place, yet everything went relatively smoothly. Just like in the past, the NYPD does their ticket quota sweeps to bring in revenue and to alert the public that they are watching. I'm sure that by February, everything will be back to normal.
Another thing, we were going too fast to even show up on the 1010 Wins static traffic cams.
