I'm searching all over, and can't find a definitive answer.
I mean, the rules state Snell 2000 - Not SA2000 or M2000
I know the M2000 are different with the fire and roll bar impact ratings, but that doesn't mean it's not ok. my only concern is the lack of shield. Do you guys have/need your shield down when you race? keep in mind I'll be lucky to be running low 13's.
I guess the worst that could happen is I'd have to wait until 11am for the Speed Shop to open, and then buy a new helmet.
I think you are over thinking this. PM Gary2004Z06 and he will explain and answer all your concerns.
If you are looking to buy a helmet then I suggest one of these. This is what I have:
You might be able to rent a helmet at the track. You might want to call and find out. If you are looking to buy one you could get one from Safe Racer.com
Weather is looking better, temps for Friday are dropping now.. 65 for the high and 49 for the low mostly sunny.
Thanks guys, I'm just looking to use what I have. Spending up to $600 on a helmet isn't in the cards right now, and getting one on time would be critical.
As for over thinking, that's just who I am. As I mentioned before, I've been to tracks before, just never took a pass. Hence, I have no personal experience or knowledge of required gear. Other than the list that was graciously posted, I still need to interpret and have nothing else to go by. I'd rather spend the money on a tune right now, than a helmet.

Here's an idea - I'll call the track later.
You're going to have a good time at the rental.

Funny thing is, I used to go Maple Grove every year for over ten years! We'd rent an RV and stay there 3 or 4 days, usually in September but then they started moving it around. I guess I spent too much time grilling and finishing off 30 packs, and not enough time paying attention to the drivers!

Not sure what size your head is, but maybe you could barrow Gary's helmet and wear it over top your helmet. Just a thought.
It is clearly marked Snell M2000 on the inside. But like I said, no shield. Can someone confirm 99% that this will be acceptable?
I cannot confirm 99% that you will be fine...reason being is that I am actually 100% sure that you will be fine with that helmet at Atco this Friday.
Shield up, down or even removed...all your choice.
Hey guys looking forward to meeting all of you on Friday.
Just one question I had, what time does the rental end?
I can't seem to find it anywhere in the posts.
Also about the helmet, I used the same one you have at atco back in April and had no problems.

4:30pm.
And that is 4:30, not 4:35 or even 4:31, it's 4:30 on the nose.

Although the rental does end, you can stay longer, if you pay the entrance fee. Then... continue with T&T (timeshots, etc.) in the evening... but not sure how crowded it will be.

At E-town next March is another story.

Thanks guys, I feel much better now.
Getting down to the last minute and the last thing I need to do is go shopping for a helmet. I've spent the last couple nights tweaking my car, and now tonight I get to make a **** ton of BBQ mop and rib rub from scratch. Then tomorrow I have to shoot home after work and get the ribs started & tend to them - so I feel much better . . . Thanks!

I thought a car had to have the SA rating for the helmet...
I'd call and ask to be safe.
An open face one is still allowed. I know for road racing in NJ next year, it needs to be closed face, with the shield being optional.

Yes that is possible as well, it might depend on what equipment is in/on the car as I think the main difference between SA and M is that SA means it's also fire retardant.
With a stock/near stock NA car I believe that the number (2005 being more recent/updated than 2000 of course) is more important.
