The intrusion alarm is disabled with the top down, and as of now, there is no workaround for the convertible like there is with a wall anchor on the coupe. I don't think anyone has ever found definitively where the sensor is actually located, yet.
As for the motion alarm, I am assuming it is also disabled with the top down. The reason for the assumption is that it stands to reason there is only one sensor that tells the car that the top is secure. Your attempts to make the alarm sound with the top down, along with mine (bouncing the car up and down) bears this out.
my wife sets off the alarm while i am getting gas and she is in the car, top down. top down in the garage, i reach in for my hat and the alarm goes off.
but my top will not always go down... it's becoming very regular.
the dealer needs to duplicate the gripe to find a fix.
Bravo on a Convertible thread all our own. I am a first time owner with my '15 LT3. Haven't stopped kicking myself for waiting so long yet. I have a question for all about... Sound deadening. With the top down life is good and all you can hear are the angel singing but when the top goes up so does the noise level. Of course some roads are worse then others but is this bothersome to anyone else. Does anyone have experience with "DynaMat" and other products? Would it be worth the cost?

I got my sound deadening kit for my vert from TKO Performance. Kit came with a mat for the trunk and a piece for behind each of the front seats. Noticeable improvement.

I wish how you could tell me to get that to work it doesn’t on mine no matter what i try. Mine is a 14 if that matters.

mine is 16. IT obviously came that way! i am NOT smart enough to figure it out or i would have disconnected it. it did teach me to leave my top up in the garage, and leave my key in the car with my wife.

At over 300 posts and have to post a few questions...
- How many folks considered the convertible a deal-breaker? I ask that because I love Corvettes of all types but have to say that I never seriously considered actually owning anything but a rag-top.
- Anyone regret opting for the convertible? I can say, unequivocally a NO for me (both for the previous C6 and new Z06) but curious other's takes.
- Anyone remiss about the tracking regulations? I pose this because I would really love to take my car to the track but unwilling to install the roll-bars and such. IMHO a fair trade-off for me every time I hit "the button" to drop the top but honestly question the regs. I am damn-near full grown and quite willing to sign to accept the perceived responsibility/liability associated with the open air but lawyers seem to disagree with that option...

Allen, for me I'll put it this way. I bought one Corvette that wasn't a drop top. The entire time I owned the car (which was still a great car), I knew I wouldn't make that mistake again. For me, if the top don't drop I shouldn't buy it.
Merry Christmas my friend.

As for me, I wanted a new C7 as soon as they came out. I originally factory ordered a 2014 coupe, because I thought I liked the lines of the coupe much better. When that deal fell through (the dealer said he had build allocations, he lied), I found a white convertible on line that had everything I wanted (except that it was not a coupe). Well, I bought the convertible anyway and have owned that car for nearly four years now. To put it plainly, I will never buy another coupe. I LOVE this convertible, I love the top down experience and the lines with the top down are breathtaking. Even the "top up" look has grown on me. If for some reason I had to replace this Corvette tomorrow, it would be with another convertible...
Are convertibles prohibited from running HPDEs these days?? When I was active in W2W racing several of my friends earned track time by instructing and at that time it was common to allow convertibles to compete in HPDE events. But that was about 15-20 years ago.

Haven't tested the waters yet but I believe you have to have roll bars installed. May be track/event specific but that's my understanding and how I interpreted the rules...

I totally agree. Love my vert. Friends in my club go to tracks and wish I could race but I won't put roll bars on.

Just bought a new 2017 vert, but I'm still certain the vert was the right body choice for me. Not being able to buy a vert would have been a deal breaker to me.
The hatchback with it's manually removable roof section held zip interest for me. After jacking with the on-off of my C3's T-Tops 41 years ago, never again. They're a PITA!
Provided I don't roll it, or encumber problems with the vert top, I know I've made the right choice. I have no interest in Tracking the car, or road racing it. I have no use for the hatchback model.

I have always liked the looks of the convertible more than the coupe. From every angle. I had to buy the coupe for storage. Darn! If only....
