So I’m out looking at the car to see all the wiring and stuff that needs to come off for body lift and notice I have two ceramic resistors. One has a connection and the other doesn’t (the lower one in the pic). Am I supposed to have two or is the upper one a bubba add on option?
I believe the upper one is in the original location. The lower one - mounted vertically in the pic and hard to see - is not something I am familiar with.....
The upper one is a "Bubba" (Mopar) replacement, and the lower one isn't a GM part either, although the upper one appears to be mounted in the correct location (see photo below). The car only used one originally.
Got the steering column out and that crumple mesh tube is in two pieces. Is it supposed to be or do I need a new column? Also when we pulled it out this copper piece fell out on the engine side. No idea where it came from.

My column was broken too. I took it apart and used a piece of 1" square stock for alignment. I tapped a few holes for 1/4" screws to hold the square stock to one side and welded the mesh back together. Angle iron with some flat spots for the screws to land on should work too.
good job,,but remember to ''bag/tag'' every nut/bolt and washer,,and take as many pics as possible,,i bought a car in boxes,[ive restored cars for 30+ years] and if only the previse owner would have just bagged and tagged parts it would have taken me 1/2 the time putting this car back together
Ziplocks, blue tape and the digital camera have become my best friend. Of course I take something off and go crap I forgot to take a picture. Put back loose and take a picture. Got the big extra parts hung up out of the way. Think we lack the speedo cable, antenna, parking brake and soft top frame. I will double check again and again. Picked up casters for the body dolly yesterday. Northern Tool had Buy one get one half. Of course the 5” metal centers they only had 3. Only set of 4 I found were the 6” rubber over poly centers. Says they are good for 700 lbs each. Now to finish removing the last parts and build the dolly.

that part that fell out is the grounding connection in the rag joint of the steering column
I wouldn't be an expert, but it looks like the stamp is a date code of the 335th day of 1966 which would be correct for your build date right? BTW - great thread! Very fun to watch your progress and the fun you are having.
Early, does that mean I should have a wire hanging somewhere?
no wire. the tab is broken off so you will need a new one or get the rag joint rebuilt. the forum folks here can give you a line on who rebuilds the rag joints. Do a search and you can see they are a critical item so some send them out. that thing provides a good ground thru the steering column and frame for the horn. it goes around that kind of universal looking joint just above the steering box..
Looks like you are correct Rob. That number means Thursday December 1st and the car was assembled Monday December 5th. Guess I have one original part. Lol.

You got TWO sets of 4, right? The Adams plan has a section more or less square for under the cockpit, with a caster at each corner. Then there is the front part, which takes an additional 2 casters. And on mine I added a rear section to support the back end since it's a convertible (like yours) and I used 2 more casters at the back of that. (altho I have seen pics of someone's dolly with a diagonal brace on each side and no casters on the rear). But you'll want at least 6.
Thanks RRman. Actually I’m building the dolly over the frame so I will only have four corners.
Forgot a couple questions.
1. What causes the steering colum to break like that?
2. When I get the body on the dolly, would it hurt to use my pressure washer to clean out the engine compartment?
And forgot another pic as well. Early on when everyone was pointing out the details I remember it being mentioned that it was to bad someone cut the fuel line. Here is a pic of the cut and it doesn’t look very clean. Just thought I would show the fine craftsmanship.

You mentioned something about that but I still can't visualize it. As long as you are all set with 4, more power to you! Don't worry, the big day will arrive before you know it.
