A base C6 Corvette is an amazing value, and examples are available for less than $20,000. For the same money, you can buy a high-mileage C6 Corvette Z06, but should you?

Youtuber “ZentRose” has a history of buying fun performance cars at budget prices. He has owned a few Corvettes, including a C5 Z06 and a base C6 Z51, both of which he took to the track. In this video a friend of his has just purchased the cheapest, clean-title, C6 Corvette Z06 in the country. This black-on-black, base C6 Corvette Z06 appears to be in clean shape, despite having more than 158,000 miles.

This purchase goes to show you how much performance you can buy for less than $20,000. The final purchase price, after negotiations, was below $20k, although the list price was in the low $20,000 range.

A quick look on Autotrader.com shows that nationwide there are no C6 Corvette Z06s in that price range. Zent points out in the video that patience may be the key to finding a similar high-mileage deal.

The video goes on to explain the buyer had the Corvette inspected by a Chevrolet dealer prior to purchase. Corvette Forum always recommends you have a qualified mechanic give a car you’re considering buying a through inspection. In the case with this Z06, the buyer found out the car needed new front tires, a full brake job, and a new valve cover seal. During the video shoot, the alternator died and they had to replace it.

Aside from these minor repairs, the Z06 is running strong and the owner is very happy. As many of you know, the Corvette is an amazing performance bargain that you can work on yourself. If you are not afraid to get your hands dirty and turn a wrench, then an inexpensive C6 Corvette Z06 could be your next car.
