Is the Z51 a Corvette Model?

Let’s not beat a dead horse here and get right to the point. The Z51 is an option package. It’s not a Corvette model. It is an option package. Options, if you are new to buying a car, are those things that you add on to the car to build it to your specifications. The color red is not a model of corvette. The Z51 option is as much of a Corvette model as the color red. Insert All Corvettes Are Red puns here.

I’m not really sure why this keeps coming up. I’ve heard of several revered option packages before, such as the infamous L88 Corvette, yet no one calls it a Chevrolet L88. Even outside of the GM circle, there’s the ZCP equipped BMW M3, or the P30/P31 option package for the older C63 AMG. Options, folks.

Anyhow, hope this clears some things up for those new to Corvettes. It’s not a model, but it is one hell of a good option to have on your Corvette, especially if you take your corvette to track days. I guess this is where the “rant over” part goes.
