Jumping a C8 Corvette Corvette??? (It Holds up Surprisingly Well)

Jumping a C8 Corvette Corvette

This C8 Corvette suffered only minor damage even after it was launched into the air a grand total of seven times.

It’s no secret that those who have made a career out of creating YouTube videos have done so because people click on and watch their videos, which helps them generate ad revenue as income. But while some automotive YouTubers get there by creating informative content like reviews (see: Doug DeMuro), others tend to attract clicks by doing silly things like buying crappy vehicles and getting overly dramatic about how they break down or cost a fortune to fix (see: Tyler Hoover of Hoovie’s Garage), slapping videos with clickbait titles, or perform silly stunts as a way to attract eyeballs (see: Cody Detwiler, or Whistlin’ Diesel). Then there’s Mike Hyssong of StreetSpeed717 fame, who does a combination of some of those things. Most recently, that includes jumping a C8 Corvette over a ramp.

Those that are familiar with Hysson’s previous antics certainly won’t be surprised by this C8 Corvette stunt, as the YouTuber has launched many different kinds of vehicles over his homemade dirt ramp, which is located on his own piece of property in Pennsylvania. In fact, a few years ago, Hyssong found himself in a bit of legal hot water after jumping a brand new Ram TRX over a creek, essentially destroying the Hellcat-powered pickup in the process.

While many will likely cringe at the mere thought and obviously take offense to anyone abusing a vehicle that’s still in high demand and low supply, the results of this scientific experiment are pretty darn interesting. The idea behind this particular series was to see just how much abuse the C8 Corvette could take before it blows up, mostly because as Hyssop points out, there’s been quite a bit of negativity circling online regarding things like the car’s alleged transmission and engine woes. But as it turns out, this is no delicate sports car by any measure.

After enjoying a little bit of ripping through the field, Hyssong gets down to business and prepares to launch the C8 Corvette over the ramp, expecting there to be some serious damage following this particular stunt. However, that isn’t the case at all – the C8 lands mostly flat, and the airbags don’t even go off, in spite of a slightly hard landing.

Aside from a cracked front splitter from hitting a log during a previous drive and some paint chips on the side, the Corvette incurs zero damage, even after a grand total of seven jumps. And while we’re sure that this stunt will have more than its fair share of critics, we think that the results are pretty darn impressive, regardless.
