UPDATE:
I think I'm going to switch to the Kenwood Excelon DNX995S. I really think the 4V pre-amp output (in the Pioneer) matter with regards to amplifier signal performance. Plus the DNX995S has a built in DSP feature...should be a win-win. I'll post up the install and a full write up when complete.

UPDATE:
My 2 Dayton 6.5" DC160-4's just arrived. Time to get busy taking out the terrible Morel Maximo's. Pics in a few...

So the new Daytons are in. So far so good. Did a little bit of tuning to readjust sound...but I caught myself smiling while listening, I for sure need to get some break in time and get some road noise behind the setup before I can give a detailed report. But I'm thinking that I'm headed in the right direction for sure.
EDIT: I wonder if the Kenwood DNX995S DSP and the JL VXi DSP will play nice together?

And here it is in all it's tiny glory...look how itty bitty this thing is. 8 channels! BTW, the picture feature SUCKS!I have about 6 other pics and I just got frustrated trying to upload them.
Look how small!
Replacing the 4 channel on the right...look how tiny it is! Hard to believe it's an 8 channel WITH a DSP considering how big the 4 channel without a DSP is next to it.

I will. I'm not excited about tearing into the car again, but I'm totally stoked to play with my new toys. I also got an Audiofrog UMI-1 microphone and Level 4 RTA from Trueaudio to dial this beast in. On top of that, I got CAE VB2 going on each door and VB4 going on all the flat areas. Should be recording studio quiet in there.

Major update
Well, I'm happy to say, I'm FINALLY done with the install. I have removed the 3 way passive crossovers and went full 8 way active. Installed the tweets. Swapped amps. Removed interior AGAIN and swapped the ineffective HMF sound deadening material for MLV. Removed the rear speakers. Soldered all connections and installed capacitors on the tweets to prevent the dreaded tweeter "pop." Wired the amp so I have tweets and mid ranges are on their own channels and then bridged channels 5/6, 7/8 for the door woofers. Here's some pics.
Garage in shambles
Down to the guts of the wiring and floor pan.
MLV trimmed to fit. Frustrating about the cubbies in the C6...no real way to "deaden" them completely effectively.
This is how I could accurately trim the MLV. Pushing down on the clips and attachment points made a nice outline to trim around.
Like so...
Same deal when trimming straight lines...
Just fold it over on itself and apply pressure.
Finished the MLV in the trunk
Needed to get more up in the fender area, but I was running low on MLV and that sh*t is expensive!

More pics...
Got to work on the front half and tweeter install
You guys have seen the floor pan before, so I'll fast forward to where the MLV is in. Not changes in application method in front either.
Drivers side as complete as I have materials for...
Passenger side
waterfall area
How my midrange is mounted in the door card.
Another shot
Finished pic of the capacitor install
some soldering
I solder all connections
Finished tweeter install
All installed and ready for the box and final install. I lost motivation to keep taking pics, but I will snap a few of the completed system soon.

So...after some listening time and some tuning by ear, I've settled on the following crossover points:
Tweets - 6,000 - 20,000
Mids - 1,260 - 6,000
Woofs - 80 - 2,500
Subs - 20 - 80
So far, these crossover point have "sounded" the best to my ears.
That MLV though! Wow, what a difference in noise reduction. Let's just say, my doors (as deadened as they are) are once again the weakest link in road noise. I'm going to remove the kolossus (dynamat competitor that is better) and add the VB-2 and then add some HMF in my door cards to combat that. Nothing I can do about the headliner. I can't even hear the exhaust anymore. Like it is a night and day difference. And oh yeah, thanks to the capacitor install on the tweets, there is no "turn on pop" heard. Good times.

3 way active in front and the rear speakers are unplugged. Just there to fill the holes and prevent rattling...or in case I want to add rear fill later. Truth be told, I don't miss them right now.

Lots of people on here don't believe this until they experience it for themselves. The Corvette is such a small car that there really isn't much to lose by not having rear speakers, especially when your music source only has two channels recorded into it anyway. Glad you are reaching a point where you're happier with the performance. Hopefully others read this and save themselves the headache.

Some final pics...I'm going to have to figure out a beauty panel to cover the amps.

Just need some ideas for amp covers or a beauty panel
I just need to clean my interior. LOL! It's pretty filthy. I also am going to remove the door deadening and install the VB-2 and then reinstall the deadening on the inside of the door (as much as possible anyway). The MLV flat out works. You can't even hear the exhaust through the floor. It's great. BUT! It showed me that the doors are now the weakest spot for noise...so the VB-2 gets the nod. More work, but nowhere near as involved as pulling the whole car apart again.
