If you are going to be restamping pads, best you learn what's on it first - sheesh!
the VIN production sequence portion on the pad begins with a single numeric character to designate the model year, not the "S" that is found in my VIN, if it was a 66 the production number sequence on my pad would read "6114316" . . . .
Anyone dropping the big dollars that these cars are getting should be able to point out a fake car / re-stamp. The tools and knowledge is out there or hire an expert. Would you drop $150K on a house without a home inspection? Same goes for a $50-100K car.
I've already spent $550 paying to have cars inspected and passed on both cars after the inspections. That's about how much I spent having my last house inspected even though my house was 10x more. I've passed on two other cars that I found had fake trim tags thanks to the folks on this forum. Yes the knowledge is out there, but it is expensive to utilize. People creating counterfeit cars and passing them off as real are creating a real (and expensive) problem in this hobby and all I can say is I hope that people who really enjoy the hobby will refrain from making it worse.
NO COMMENT from me. I promised to stay out of these engine stamp threads, and I will.
Just wanted to let "you all" know that I've been lurking.
Same for me Chuck! I also just wanted everyone to know that I was still here and still paying attention. Same people, same opinions, and none of us have change our minds, so no sense regurgitating the same old stuff.

With all due respect, it seems kind of odd that someone that has "no comment" has to post that he has "no comment". Talk about regurgitating the same old stuff!

Nope, was not goint to re-stamp pads, just one, mine. I think we were refering to your Vin# not the actual stamping on your pad. sheesh back at ya!
Once the original engine or stamp is gone, it's gone. Why be a shyster and try to make it something it's not anymore. ?
I'm not a shyster, well, maybe because I don't know what a shyster is. Since you know me well enough to imply that is what I am, maybe let me know?
By the way, if you cracked the block on your numbers matching engine and had to replace it with an identical block, would you be a shyster if you stamped it with you vin # ? Or now would you just not care that it is just another NOM corvette?
Ok, you guys are wearing me out. Truce.....each to his/her own opinion!

I was speaking in general, no need to take it personal.
If I cracked my original block, I would realize **** happens and that there are better solutions out there to make it stronger, faster, better than it ever was.
Just another NOM ? LOL, That quote right there shows the lunacy of matching numbers. Somehow a re-stamped fraud of a car will now be better than all the NOM cars due to fake numbers on a pad
I'm sure someone can help you with a aged window sticker and protecto plate to further enhance its provenance should you go the re-stamping route.

You are certianly entitled to your opinion, but this was primarily to let some of the same people that I have agrued about this ad nauseum. that I was aware of the post, but I was sticking by my comittment to not argue this issue any more.
Arguing about issues like this is just about like trying to teach a pig to dance, all you do is get dirty and **** off the pig!
I love stamp threads. They make me all warm and fuzzy inside......(actually it may be the whisky), However, I have decided that since there are many carless Corrvette correct VIN engines out there that we shoud just F$@K the Restamping engines of good bare blocks and restamp vin tags. That way we do not have to worry about any broach marks and all that BS.........
By the way, who is doing the BEST AND WORST OF 2006 on the CORVETTEFORUM in Memory. Would love to reminse the Stuff that kade us laugh, cry, fight and just plain shake out heads.
I know that many of you out there have excellent photo collections of the year past.
Cheers to all. Thanks for all who make it what it is. It has been a BLAST. THIS IS THE BEST PLACE ON THE WEB.
