Yes it is May 31st and June 7th as a rain date. That does look like a good alternative also. We need to find out what Corrvette744 comes up with first though. He has been putting time into this and I would hate to see it for nothing.
Okay gentlemen start your engines.I just got off the phone with toby, from starved rock state park visitors center. He said its a go-although he is not sure about the parking. The visitors center holds 6-700 cars,he said it could have that by noon.I got the permit ok from 12noon till 5pm.He also said it would be a good idea to have someone come down and see him for alternate spots if its full.He stated matthiessen and vermillion area are alot less crowded-if starved rock is full.So if someone is close and would like to recon the area before this happens-talk with toby and let us no.Yes right now date is may31st-with the 7th rain date. Will wait till the 30th to make the decision. When entering just tell them you with group corvette forum,i think after about the50th vett they will get the hint.I made the permit for 60cars-i think its going to be alot more.So let me no what you guys think-personaly i have never been their before-so im going blind. p.s they said i dont think so to the car wash-sorry thier will be alot of dirty vetts.
Sounds great! i am still waiting to hear from Toby from Whitneys and if nothing else we could cruise up there after starved rock!!
I know severeal sites have grills already there just add charcol and lighter fluid!!
Corvette 744 let me know when would be a good time to go down and talk to Toby at the park as im only 45 minutes from there i could take care of this!! Tony
Ya all got this part handled..... .....So....what about we all try to throw alittle money for some forum chatiry? This is a awesome site, and this site is what brought us all together.Or if some forum member had a kid that needed surgery,or something,a charity that someone knows...whatever.Maybe a raffle,or something?Put some ideas out there,or tell me to go jump off a bridge. That's okay too...I can probably round up soome decent part for the raffle, but someone else can handle the money, and getting it where it needs to go.
I think thats a great idea! I don't have much for ideas though. Anyone?
My wife is a realtor in Yorkville. In her office is another realtor Dan Aldrich. We have become friends and were invited to bowl with Dan and his wife on the Friday night league. They have one son Elliot, nice kid. He came down with Leukemia when he was twelve. a couple years later Cindy his mom had a serious condition where the bone basicly disappered in her upper leg and was hospitalized. About a year later Dan was showing a house and walked through a dark doorway going to the basement. NO STAIRS! Broke ribs, wrist, shoulder, leg and back injuries. Elliot was in remission but the cancer is back. We had a Fundraiser 5K run at our fitness center a couple years ago for Elliot. These people have had a rough go for the last 4 years. Now with the real estate business as it is and the medical bills they are really struggling. I know times are tough but if you are looking to help someone these people are about as deserving as it gets. I always think about "What if it was my son?" These people sound great to me,Mako, for us to help.I just don't know how everyone else feels, and I don't really know how to pursue???This isn't JUST going to be C3s,so I need some ideas as to what to bring?Should we have a raffle,or make a collection bucket w/a card telling these people's story/situation?????I have never done anything like this myself,so.....any,and all input would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!
I'm really looking forward to this, and getting to meet some people from the forum.

If someone can get tickets we could do a 50/50 drawing where people buy tickets like 10 for 5 bucks and you split the full amount and pick a winner the winning ticket gets half the cash the rest goes to the family (charity) just a thought?
or raffle a part with the proceeds goin to the family, but like mentioned before it wont just be c3`s??
The permit for Starved rock is all set so its all good to go!!!
I also stopped and talked to Toby at Whitneys and he said he would give out discount coupons for anyone wanting to shop in the warehouse store that day!!
Much thanks to everyone involved in setting this up, obtaining permits, etc. -- especially Corvette744! The wife and I decided to make it a whole weekend, booked a room at the Lodge Friday and Saturday night. Looking forward to meeting folks on Saturday and soaking in all the machinery.
