I have been playing drums and percussion since I was 5... started being paid for it @ 12 and have worked part time and full time since...soul, rock, country rock, jazz, blues.... whatever. At 57 I am retired from this activity with the exception of sit in's for local group's. I still own my first set of nickle plated hardware Ludwig's and have owned just about every known brand of drums made. Great to see a lot of other drummer's here.
On a side note... my daughter (who's birthday is today, 27) has traveled the entire globe, over 100 countries playing bass for different orchestra's, she now resides in Prague
From: THE OLDER I GET THE BETTER I WAS! NORTHERN ONTARIO
Been playing since 1965 I used to play professionally till we had the kids..Guitar & Bass is what I love but on occasion I have been behind a Drum Kit or 2
So what do you call a guy standing around a bunch of musicians? JUST KIDDING! ha ha!
I've been a saxophonist for nearly 20 years, guitarist/bassist for 15. I also played Tuba, clarinet, piano just a little, and some drums.
I was big into playing in my high school jazz band... it was really a pretty serious gig, 250 musicians in the HS band, and only 20 of us in the jazz band... and it was a working jazz band. Paid gigs every few weeks. It was a blast. Loved playing my bari sax on those jazz charts.
I also played in the ubiquitous HS garage bands on guitar and bass.
Nowadays, just play a little blues for my 2 year old on the guitar.
Despite what my screen-name might lead you to believe, I describe myself as someone who "plays with guitars", because saying "I play guitar" would be a gross overstatement as that would imply at least some knowledge/skill of how to make the instrument sound good. I have been playing with my guitars for 3-4 years, and could probably find my way out of the beginner stages if I wasn't too lazy and cheap to get lessons. I find it relaxing anyway though, and it can keep me busy for hours on snowy Sunday afternoons in front of the fire in February when there is no football on and Corvette driving is months away.
Corvette is a '70 LS5 4 spd vert. She has needs, but I love her.
Yeah yeah...
The Strat.... Harley... Muddy, you are starting to sound a little like this guy
Your a funny man...Mr. Sitar!
Dang, some nice instruments on these pages
Road Race....see your partial to blonds! Looks like ya got the spectrum of pickups covered.
Heres a pic of my NCRS "Not correctly Restored Strat" I started with a 335 dot neck, then migrated to the Les Paul...until I ran across the tone of SRV Muddy
Our ride is a 72 LT-1 (with AC). 3 yr old restore...and running strong with 15K on the clock now!

Wow! Nice basses and guitars! I see I'm not the only person to sink some serious cash into their instruments. Schmegeggie, that's one beautiful snare you have there. I bet it's nice and tight with that depth - not quite a piccolo, and not the typical 5-1/2 or 6 incher. I also like those die cast hoops, it reminds me of Sonor hoops. Stan, I see you like the Ash / Maple neck strats, but I'm partial to the look of the Flying V. When I see those, I automatically think of Michael Schenker of the old Scorpions/UFO/Michael Schenker Group days.
I feel that in my case music is directly relevant to my corvette. My 79 was paid for entirely by my earnings as a musician. I'm a mechanical engineer by day and the music is literally my second job. Again, some fine instruments guys.
I'm a piano/keyboard player primarily since the age of 7, but also trumpet, guitar (love my Rickenbacker 360), and drums.
I'm the synth player for Seven Color Sky (it's not what I do for a living though). Psychedelic Furs guitarist John Ashton produced two of our discs, and I sat in and played a full set with The English Beat on five minutes' notice in 2006. Probably one of my greatest musical moments!
