How I wish I had that Chet Atkins Gretch I saw earlier. My ex FIL could play the crap out of his, and all of his many other instruments.
Hey, it took me a lot longer to find this Gretsch than it took to find the 2 Corvettes ('69 & now the '71)that I've owned. I was in the right place at the right time. An older gentleman and his wife were in a Mega music store in Tampa and was trading the Gretsch in for a Gibson Hummingbird acoustic. Long story short....he offered it to me for the trade-in amount. I guess he liked the way I was drooling over his Chet Adkins. The salesman said we had to "take it outside".
That was one of my most memorable lunch breaks ever.

Now that is a sweet piece! Good story too. I've got a similar Gibson Chet Adkins Country Gentleman in wine red, but without the Bigsby. Love the sound of a good hollow-body through a tube amp.

Great story... reminds me of an article that I read... where SRV spotted "Lenny" in a pawn shop, and his wife went back to buy it for Stevie for his B'day!! Muddy

btw: Anyone want to hear one of Stevie's greatest tunes...check out "Lenny" on Texas Flood. Stevie named this pawn shop strat Lenny... which is his wifes name!

What a great thread ....... its amazing how much music and hot rods kinda flow together ...
have been playing since 8th grade (now pushin mid 60s) and have pretty much done it all, from early rock .. to heavy rock, some metal work, some country, bluegrass and everything from sock hops to weddings, clubs and even a pilot for a tv show ....... today, we make available a small home studio for the youngsters to come record their stuff ... occasionally playing and church and as many jam sessions as the law allows ... started on keyboards, ended on bass ... still my fav ... and through a lot of different guitars. now down to two Warwicks ... a Corvette frettless and a Infinity 5 string ... plus an acoustic bass ... I let my boys carry on ....
82 C3 and 01 C5 ... we love our music and our vettes ...

First Awesome Thread! Great diversity, killer instruments...man we could have hellava C3 band!

Second...what happened when the Bass player locked the keys in the Van?.............

....Took 30 mins to get the drummer out! (Bada Bing)!

73 Corvette Coupe. 52 years old this year. Have played guitar and bass since highschool. Hippie Rock, Country Rock, Blues and laltely some bluegrass. Have recently started mandolin as well with my daughter! Like some of my former cars, I have owned many instruments that if still owned today would be precious.

Currently have 02 Les Paul DC custom, Ibanez Artist, and custom tele , strat and J-Bass all with Warmoth custom necks. 1982 Sigma DR-35 and Regal resonator and Yamaha acoustics.
Mesa Blue Angel, 59 Bandmaster reproduction, 62 Ampeg Reverberocket! 80's Peavey Bass 400 w/ Custom Pine 2x15 Cab.

Currently still play in a part time hippie/country rockband and we also have an acoustic/unplugged set. Name of the band is "Animals' Planet" out of Leesburg Va.

Rock on!

I play guitar but am too worthless to start a band. I mainly play 80's thrash/metal, but I'll learn anything from alice in chains to johnny cash. just whatever strikes at the moment. I have a violin and a banjo that I wish I could play better than i can.

J.K. Cooley, you have a nice lookin les paul custom

I have a 69 vette

Used to have a ton of money wrapped up in Vintage Gibsons, Fender, Rickenbacker and Gretsch... Started over back in the 90's collecting Tokai Japanese Replicas before the market for high end Japanese took off. Here's a few Tokais , a Rick 360/12 and a Hofner just out of the frame. For amps a Vox AC30, Line 6 Duotone and a little Peavy bass amp. All acoustics are Washburn.

OK, how do you get a drummer off your front porch? Pay for the pizza.

What do you call a guitar player with no girlfriend? Homeless.

What is the difference between a guitar player and a savings bond? A savings bond earns money and eventually matures.

I could go on.
