Hmmm. There are folks who think the 'fastback' window on later C3's were an abomination. Some think the rubber bumper years were disgraceful as well.

I liked them when they first came out, even without the flared fenders. Now the body style seems dated, like practically everything built in the '80s. Most of them I see now are in pretty rough shape, which does'nt help

 

I have both, and I love both. You always hear I did this to mine and I did that to mine blah blah blah...who cares. I love the looks of the C3 over my C4...performance?? the C3 will never stand a chance with a C4. Some can build the C3's to flat scream....trouble is, they still gotta stop and go around corners, plus the aerodynamics of a C3 over 100 just flat suck. Take the money you need to make a C3 go, stop and corner and put that same money in a C4 and you have a total screamer, then if you put the same funds in a C5...faster yet....like I said, who cares...enjoy what you have, they are all great, I have no plans to sell either one, and when I find A yellow C5 6 speed in the right price range, its also going to come home with me....

 

It was your derogatory nasty comment about C4's. Perhaps you should learn some manners.

My C4's would embarrass your 81 to no end. I'd love to see your 81 do 180MPH+

 

Seems this is the type thread that serves only to hurt some ones feelings....in this case C4 owners...I have to admit I miss the point,
All the cars are "Corvettes" and yes due to each of our personal tastes some years appeal to us more than others,
I just sold a sweet 86 to a person who I consider a good friend now so why would I want to rain on his pride and joy?

Look how much the c3 changed in it's life span...while some like the chrome bumper cars best...Like myself, some might like the more subdued yet refined 74-79 better...others like myself also dig the smooth 80-82. Bubble butt rear window an abomination..No, the fact it doesn't open like the CE is the abomination,
I can't really say that a C4 in anyway compares in style to a C3 with the sexy curvy lines the C3 has, but the C4 is a cool mean car on it's own merits.

I have all my own beliefs why the C4 seems the least popular of all vettes gauging that first on resale costs....C4's are cheap....and comparing them to a Firebird/Camaro which they do look way too much like could be a reason they are less popular and cheaper.

Sometimes morality police should do deep soul searching and practice what they are preaching to people....people in glass houses throwing stones.

So someone states their opinion that the C4 has the worse lines of any Vette....While it could be used in a disparaging way to bash the C4's lines I am not arrogant to the point of saying I can read the posters mind and know they meant it as bashing rather than just his opinion that the C4 lines do not appeal to them......it's there opinion which they are entitled to it. Just like you are entitled to your opinion. why scold them for it?

 

I don't wear any Corvette stuff and own several generations of Corvettes and I certainly don't wear any sweaters to car shows in Florida.

My Corvettes are also highly modified even though they came with substantially more HP then your 78.

You are the one who started the whole thread up by ripping on C4's.

Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with C4's. When my C4 was STOCK it could do:

0-60 in 4.2 seconds
0-100 in 11.5 seconds
Top Speed 180MPH+
In 1990, it was the Fastest Production Car in the World.

Your 78:
0-60 6.5 seconds if you have 4 Speed L82 motor otherwise its much slower
0-100 17.1 seconds
Top Speed 123MPH

Yeah, my C4 is a MUCH better daily driver and my C3 is a MUCH better head-turning, quarter mile car. Love both of 'em.
