They don't currently rub front or rear... But I did notice that the PO added some twist in coil spacers... I wondered why , until now! Lol. The issue I have is the custom exhaust hangs fairly low in two spots... Right behind the back of the front wheels and slightly by the rear axle... Probably to keep from heating up the trans etc ... I wouldn't be able to slam mine to the ground unless I wanted to redo this exhaust... But... The PO spent sooo much coin on it, I don't wanna change it... Lol. Can take better pics on a flatter surface next day we have some sunshine... And to my surprise , both front and rear tires are tucked inside the fender flares nicely...
the problem with dual exhaust on an '81 is the left floor pan on an '81-'82 is lower than the crossmember, so If you run true duals, it hangs really low. this is the issue I had with my car which led me to decide on going with side exhaust. no more scraping on everything, and my car looks great lowered.
True that ... And the trans cross member does not have cutouts for the exhaust to go through... So, most of my exhaust sits below the running gear of the car, with adequate spacing so it doesn't overheat the trans and cab, brings it closer to the ground... May be a project for later, but I prefer a somewhat taller car... So I'm not worried about scraping the nose or exhaust over speed bumps and entrances/exits to anywhere I go... Mine is a (non frozen conditions) daily driver/work commuter...
I have a problem. I'm from Finland and have just ordered a corvette C3 '79 from Michigan and it's gonna be shipped to Finland this week. I wanted it with 18" American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels and Nitto tires so I ordered them from Wheelsforless. Unfortunately my courier called me that the rear wheels wont fit and he's trying today front wheels on and i dont know yet does they fit either.
Sizes are:
Front: 18x8 with 4.5" backspace and 245/45R18 tires
Rear: 18x10's with 5,5" backspace and 285/40R18 tires
Do they need spacers, modifications or something to fit, or do they fit at all? Thanks for answers!

well the fronts should fit...but the backspace is .5" more than stock.
The rears are probably hitting the park brake cable/bracket....have him grind off the bracket and tie wrap the cable out of the way for now. 18x10's with 5.5" should fit (its tight!!) as that's what I had on mine.

Thanks for the answer. The car and wheels are going to be shipped at thursday and don't know should i return wheels back to seller or do they fit after modifications you recommend. The Wheelsforless guy told me that they will fit without any modifications. It gonna cost like hell if i have to send them back to US from Finland, so i don't wanna take a risk.

Hello Finland,
The answers you seek are in this thread. Some of us have pictorial information to show specifics of what to expect.
Look at my post #44 in this thread. It wll have instructions and a link to view what my experiences were. My setup is very close to your proposal and I have no difficulties with mine.
Like my CF friend lvrpool32 (Nick) says, he has run this combo successfully. Many of us have.
Please, take a step back and see if the photos won't help you to decide.

Thank you, sir! I don't know how we have survived back in the days without internet. So i'll take the wheels to finland and do the modifications needed. And if it's too difficult for me (<-Corvette-newbie) then i'll make 4 awesome bar stools of them.
18 x 8 with 4 inch backspace or -12 offset, Front
18 x 9.5 with 5 inch backspace or -6 offset, Rear
did not relocate e-brake bracket. stock trailing arms
OR 18 x 9.5 with 5.5" Backspace or +6 offset, Rear.
This offset will move the wheel in ward .5" so the e-bracket would be in the way.
