Was away on vacation in VT and didn't have much access to the Internet, let alone cell coverage - just the way I like it! But man!!!!! I can't believe the amount of work you've done in the past week and having ambitions of paint and clear before August ~ Im speechless ~ no vocabulary to describe your work. No shortcuts or cut corners, just professional, passionate, dedication and attention to detail. You might accomplish just enough for the missus and mother-in-law to cruise the blvd in that 73 while you are in DC

Pulled the protecto plate today...

I removed the door ajar backing plates and glassed in the holes... I know Ernie Willcox just posted that these are being reproduced, but going for a little cleaner look... Can't wait to see Ernie's technical write-up because I have no idea how you will get these out or the new ones back in... Here's how I did mine...

Drilled out the rivets, secured the plate with tie-straps and tried to pull out through holes by the #3 mount and from the interior... Plate was too big to come out either of those holes... Since I had to glass the holes anyway, ground out a small slot between the rivet holes and the switch hole...

Then maneuvered the plate and gently pulled it out...

Plate is out...

Glassed the hole and finished off with filler...

As always, thanks for looking and commenting...

Hey Rog... I've been following along from the beginning and have come to the conclusion that, despite the redundancy, you might actually gain some of that immeasurable energy from the repetitive accolades. So... My God, man, you inspire us all. I can't wait to see her done. (not half as much as you, I'm sure.) Fantastic work!

Rogman,
You had me at my computer for hours last night reading your whole posting.
"Amazing and spectacular" is what you are acomplishing, all out of your confined garage, very impressive. VERY
Can hardly wait to see the finished car

I do not have a C3 as yet, (only my C5).
Hopefully soon ........
Not meaning to jack the thread or upset any C3 owners out there.
The C3 is by far my favorite body shape of all the Corvettes. All Corvettes are great, some a tad greater than others. The C3 body shape IMHO is the most pleasing shape of them all

Hi Rogman,
Although you're not quite doing it 'my way'.... still VERY nice attention to detail!!!
And for me, that's what really matters.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the comments... I need to post some more pictures and an update... I've been working my tail off finishing up the pass door and the rear panel (now one piece and it's kicking my butt getting the finishing touches massaged in)...

BTW--still got plenty of tail left....

Default Update, 20 Jul 12

Look what bubba left for me... Noticed there were some screws near where the convertible hatch latches to the body... Took the screws out and found this...

Guess this was the best way to reinforce in the day!!! Ground all the gook/crap out and put down some fresh mat and resin.... Pictures of the repair completed will be posted over the weekend as I forgot to snap a couple of quick pics of the repair...

Finished up the tail light panel, rear deck and molding of the exhaust panel to the car:

Oh yeah, almost forgot, used the template and drilled holes for pass door side mirror... Just couldn't see myself drilling into fresh paint later...

Thanks for looking and commenting...
