Have just discovered this thread (a week ago, which is how long it has taken to go through it completely) and all I can say is WOW! You have maybe the nicest C3 on Earth. Superb work.

Also this is a wonderful thread for repair and upgrade referral/how to. The only thing cooler than your Stingray is the fact that you've documented the process and shared it w/everyone. Thank you

Thanks Mike, glad you have found the thread useful and appreciate your comments on my 71.

Documenting it all is not just give back for the great help I have got from this forum along the way but it also helps me when I need to work out how I did something years earlier 😀

The fact that it was done in Australia is even more impressive.

Come on 😀 I am in Australia not on the moon 😂.

The biggest issues we have being so far away are freight costs, delivery times and quick access to another Vette or owner to talk, check or compare something.

That’s why forums like this are so great and need to be supported.

And it does not matter if your doing display level work, a quick hack or anything in between, post it and I can guarantee someone will be helped by it either today or some time in the future.

Even I have used an idea or 2 from this ongoing thread. Using Bondo (plastic body filler) to repair my T top headliners comes to mind.
Now you just need to get a manual transmission in this car!

Got back onto finishing off the display mount for my PWM fan controller.

Decided to mount it in the wing of the console side cover

Will need to play with brightness etc. Can toggle it on and off from ashtray button.

I Got around to something I should have done earlier but.....

With the fibreglass repairs to the front in the cars life and my work before repaint the two brackets between the bumper corners and frame attached brackets never fitted properly and put force on the glass if used.

So I decided to make some new ones that would be a good fit with possibly a single shim behind.

I used 3mm steel not 5 but boxed the edges. (in fact it seems to be the same thickness as the frame extensions)

Still a work in progress.

Thanks, now I just need to make a second one, and I am sure it will need to be slightly different from the first, I can’t assume symmetry. 😀

Don’t forget that most of the brackets are designated left and right.

Both brackets ready for paint then fitting.

Left and right were certainly different, not even close to mirror image but the second one came together much faster than the first.

Now I am on a roll I will build new brackets that go behind the front spoiler and up to the frame. The factory ones I have look to have had a hard life with holes enlarged and bends repaired. 😀

I hope not Doc, no matter what state it is in, my mind has a long list of things I could do, does not mean any of it is needed but that’s where the fun is in a hobby 😀
