Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Sometimes we receive a positive answer/sometimes (a seemingly) negative answer.
This morning the answer from was positive.......the little "island" that our home sits on stayed completely dry for about 10 families......the other 200 homes flooded inside.
The buyer of our home should be very glad about this......we heard thru our realtor that he was worried that he might have to wait for our home to be repaired before he could move into it.
Neighbors who stayed in their homes will try to send us pics today.
Great news. 500 year flood proof home. Good selling point too!!!! Hopefully the sale goes through
Exactly......the same thing happened after hurricane Katrina in Louisiana.....our 1st home was already for sale before Katrina......any homes that did not flood increased in value by 30% within a week, and the home still sold in a few days because hundreds of people were buying homes that did not receive flood water.
If our buyer backs out I wouldn't hold it against him......we'll let the realtor re-list it since we gave the buyer a very good deal in order to have a fast sale.
(Note: For the last 6 months we have been looking at "land for sale"........any property that is NOT in a flood zone is DOUBLE the price of property that requires flood insurance)

Keeping everyone in Louisiana in my Prayers. All of my family is still in Slidell. I was in Eden Isles during Katrina. When I left Louisiana and moved to the Mississippi coast, I was shocked at how much cheaper the insurance was (I mean like 50-60% less for same waterfront property). I'm sure there is going to be another big insurance hike for the state of Louisiana following this flood. Considering the same area (Covington and Bogalusa) flooded last year, I will be surprised if there is not a mass exit out of the area after this one. One of my patients relocated temporarily to Mississippi because his home was flooded in Covington last year. This will be the nail in the coffin as he was just finishing up home repairs from last year. The loss of lives is disheartening alone. I was shocked to see people on I-12 stranded (in their cars and on the interstate for 2 days) in flood waters. I could not see myself staying there. You have a place here in Mississippi should the need arise. Keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Well put & thanks for the prayers.........50,000 Katrina victims moved to Baton Rouge after the hurricane.......
Maybe it's time for 50,000 Baton Rouge Area victims to move to Ole Miss (I promise we'll behave).
Insurance hikes-----The Insurance Agents work VERY hard----They need free trips to HAWAII after every CATASTROPHE!
As for the people being stranded for two days-----It seems as though in ten years our Government has cut the rooftop/Interstate displacement overpass "stays" down to 2-3 days...........
Our new Governor (Edwards) is giving it a good effort though.

Ya, hurting them real bad is okay. I still like the old testament. Eye for eye kind of thing. You can just post a list of "property to fingers and toes equivalent" on your door and if you catch any of these scumbags, just point to it and ask where the want you to start. Tell them you use a shotgun as a scapel too.
