Dash Work Part !!!......errrrrrr......Part III.........Quick-Disconnects everywhere per Kris T.........
I added an extra foot to the headlight switch connector----no more popping out half of the dash light bulbs when pulling the dash panel out far enough and trying to get my hands in position to plug in the connector.......
The speedometer gets an extra foot of wiring.....same reason---bulbs popping out with the least movement of the panel....
The tachometer wiring gets an extra foot of wiring....ditto..................
Now....back to the garage to modify the gauge cluster wiring and install a new lense plate for the gauges.

Looking good Doorgunner! Care to put up a link to the disconnects you used? I've been looking for options but my Google Fu is apparently weak: all I can find are pre-wired disconnects with pigtails. I want just the disconnects to wire up myself.

Thanks.
NO !!! Why did I let you talk me into re-wiring my dash so it would be so much easier to work on!
Just kidding.....it doesn't look half as good as yours but it sure is easier to work with....I can pull the driver's gauge panel out a foot now and can completely remove the gauge cluster.
UPDATE: Here is the connector info....BUT...I wish I would have bought connectors with larger diameter male pins---the pin diameter of these is slightly larger than the "period dot">>>>>>. maybe .030" diameter.....I would rather pins closer to .060" diameter.
Anyhow................Dash Work Part IV....................
The old wiring harness is getting transplanted one wire at a time.....
The gauge wiring isn't pretty but it's definitely easy to remove the cluster......(Yes....Bubba took a hack saw and a file to the radio opening!)......................
The original lense didn't look so worn until I held it next to the new one.........
I think I'll take Kris' suggestion and add a disconnect to the center console wiring while everything is apart.
(Then it will be time to install the alarm/remote-start module and harness)
Note to self: Reinstall the A/T kickdown switch onto the accelerator bracket

Love you too, Doorgunner.

just to remind everyone else reading, the picture referenced for the center cluster disconnect isn't mine: all credit to Jamess411 for that.

Yeah , me and my nice climate controlled shop ...made me laugh .
Indoor track season is winding down ,*I have a couple of weeks before outdoor season starts ....I'm hoping to at least get the brake system / calipers etc , finally rebuilt & all the wheel wells cleaned a bit ....
Thanks for continued prodding , LoL
looking good when do I drop mine of for you? I just had my whole interior out last year and it sucked to put back together. I think I have a directional bulb out would you mind replacing it for me?

Take those wheels one at a time.....that 1 hour-per day-rule works when your not getting anything done! Some days it turns into 2 hours....and you don't even realize it!

Two choices:
Easiest------Just blink your eyes while looking at the directional light
Hardest---------Want me to add an extra foot to the harness while I'm there....I think I have it figured out now....LOL

door gunner, that sure looks like a squirrel's nest!!! I hate dealing with electrical. Imagine doing what your doing being color blind. I have to remember each and every damn wire when I work on electric.!!!!! One is solid, one has a line, one has a thick line, one has a thinner line. LOL…..

LOL......now imagine being on PTSD meds and thinking how all those colored wires are "messing with your little mind"! I solved the problem today by taking small pieces of yellow tape and labeling the wires and the connectors.

Gunner,
You don't have to worry until the wires start talking to you.
