Then he tells us to grab the cargo strap and DO NOT LET GO!
Then when the plane banks and cirCles the landing field we see through the windows as ambulances and fire trucks are heading for the runway........
THE ****ING LANDING GEAR WON'T GO DOWN....WELCOME TO VIET NAM!
BACK TO THE GARAGE!

Don't leave me hanging, what happened?

I pulled a RVZIO today.....all day was spent welding up stripped sheetmetal screw holes in the console brackets/etc. New bracket extensions were modded to hold the heater and vent cables in-line with the control wheel and vent pull ****....
I even managed to reinstall the gauge cluster/radio AND everything worked correctly(!).................
I also shifted most of the pile of tools/wires/connectors/screws/etc. that were on the driver's floorboard.............................. ......................
to the passenger's floorboard

Good job DG

the actual cluster installation took all of 30 seconds to plug in two new wiring connectors (quick disconnects)/radio connector/oil pressure line/two left-side mounting screws.
Like I said before...if the car had been original I would not have spliced in the new connectors/I would have just "fought" the wiring bundle and instrument lights whenever I worked on the dash.
Well......back to the garage to install the passenger-side dash panel....ONLY ONE WIRE/COURTESY LIGHT

Then......under the car to install the new hopefully-correct speedometer driven gear so the m.p.h. will read accurately.

My WIFE said that.................................... .........

No grass to cut yet here, just mud in the back yard where "Titan" i.e. 75lbs black lab/akita cross likes to run!
Wife and I have been house cleaning since noon, children gone, 2 cats, 2 dogs! Cutting grass seems like a better alternative!!

P.s. Finally 54F today. Snow tomorrow!

Shame on you for not having them in the garage to use as an excuse anytime you want

You're right! Mowing grass is much better....Hang in there!
It's the allergies/can't think clearly.....(will make a note about the cookie jar)............ UPDATE: It only took a month to make all the repairs and finally re-install the dash...........
...............
Now to pick up the 200 tools, wiring connectors, Gatorade bottles off the floorboards and the seats!
Now where are those console extensions and the E-brake console?

The passenger's door is next....it gets gutted/mechanisms refinished & greased/door panel refinished/lock rebuilt (I robbed the tumbler out of it to finish the driver's door
)Maybe this will take only 2 days
!!!!!!And since it's raining....no need to take the car for a spin after a month of sitting in the garage/may as well do the door stuff.

they spent about 10 minutes trying to crank the landing gear down and lock it into place while we circled the field.
MAN........was I glad that Chinook helicopter landing gear didn't retract (little did I realize that landing gear would be the least of my worries)
Boeing 135s all had such a crank handle to get the landing gear down and/or the flaps down in the event of a hydraulic systems failure. Did or saw it done in practice many times, but only had to do it for real once or twice

Happy Easter,
Paul

Some scrubbing got the floormat clean...the driver and passenger side is looking complete again....with the exception of tools on the passenger floorboard while working on the door.
The door hardware is removed for cleaning/greasing....the surface rust is sanded off and rust-preventative spraypaint applied.....
The hardware is "crusty" and feels "stiff" when being operated...where did I put that 3rd piece of linkage?.............
