Yes, there was one on here awhile back, yellow I think. The member did a beautiful job. I am sure someone with a better memory will chime in. This will at least put it to the top, Mark

My memory is no better than SLY`s... but it was yellow, and I think it was a 72. IIRC, 72 was a part of the member`s user name? He did not replace the rear clip though.... he cut the roof and part of the rear deck off his coupe, and glassed in the lid.
T he way low buck did it was 1000 times more work than a full rear clip..his conversion is stunning.
I was gonna do it to my 76 researched it...lots if negative remarks from people on here..lots of remarks its not a factory convertible....i didnt care about nay sayers....i had a rear clip lined up..,
In the end my OCD and the fact to do it right is hard made me chicken out and i bought my 69 convertible in turn flipping the 76 and 86

From what I've seen, it is soooo much work, there is no way I would personally think about doing it. If you have the time, and skill, and will do the work yourself, that's another issue. You can still find very nice C3 verts for pretty cheap that don't require 100s of hours of work.

True. You would need enough skill to do the main part of the modification to hold down costs. Then you could pay a good painter to smooth out the visible seams/repainted the rear section.

The 69 I just got needs a rear clip anyway as damaged in a shipping container and this clip came with the deal.I do 100%of my work

It was, yes, a lot of work. AND.... it looks fantastic, even the rustoleum paint came out great! If you have a convertible rear clip, you`re way ahead in the game!
If a person is wanting to do this conversion...do yourself a HUGE favor and get the correct parts. Unless you just want to fabricate up everything yourself and spend numerous hours of your time on it. Some people are into that ....which is fine. They will spend 10 hours on something that could cost them $100 in parts for example to fix right away. Their choice....but NOT mine. My time is directly linked to my customers bank account. Unless they just want to drain more money out of it ...it would be wise that they listen to my suggestions and understand that I AM trying to keep costs down.
I know I would do it but I also know that all needed parts will be on hand before I made one cut.
