1971 LT-1 Resurrection thread

Been busy closing out the year at work, but was able to get get a little free time in the afternoons this week. After our crazy freeze, we finally had some nice weather and I couldn't resist the opportunity to take my C3 out with the top off when it's sunshine and 70F, may be the last ride of the year!
I haven't been able to wrench on my vette, but I did pick up some new parts. I found an auction on eBay with a used oem: front bumper (really good driver quality), bumperettes (cores), and rear bumpers (cores). I was drinking at lunch, which helped me take the gamble on the auction and won it all for cheap! The front bumper is what I really wanted, and I figured I could sell the rest to make my money back. Front bumper is wayyyy better than my current one!! bumperettes have rust, but polish better than my current bent ones. One of the rear bumpers is better than my currents, and the other is flaking some chrome. I'm happy with it!
I'm dying to get back to work on my C3 and start the head/cam swap! It'll commence by February at the latest, and my car will be ready for spring! I've been following all the cam threads closely, and learned a lot recently. Pretty certain i'm going to pull my engine so I can figure out: what's in it, repaint it, and detail the engine bay. I have no vacuum systems or electrical sensors, it's so simple to yank that SBC out! If anyone has any warnings, please let me know! lol
I got a buddy over one afternoon, and had to get creative since we didn't have a man lift to hang those metal sheets on the new C3 shop: Don't worry, i'm a professional! LOL

This, on the other hand, is real work!

Going to disconnect the bellhousing from the engine, and pop the engine out so I can: change seals, paint, easy head/cam install, and clean up/paint engine bay.
List of things to do to engine:
- replace timing chain set.
- replace all gaskets/seals
- inspect clutch and change if necessary
- inspect harmonic balancer
- sand blast Winters LT-1 intake
- Paint engine
- install cam & heads
Plans for engine bay:
- clean up wiring harness
- repaint engine bay
- paint front of frame while I can
- install new fan shroud
Yeah i used charcoal media when I did the valve covers, much safer and easier to clean off! Finally got a blast cabinet for my new shop too!

I had the one on my car done by 'Dr Rebuild'.
