R.I.P. Dub. One of the best. I often refer to his thread responses for help.

What incredibly sad news. I spoke with him once on the phone for about an hour; he was that giving of his time. RIP

What a loss. I used to read all his posts weather they related to my car or not. I had no idea he was only five years older than me. R.I.P.

So sad to hear this news. He asked me to call him to sort out a hood and nose alignment issue with my ‘72 years ago. So generous for him to take the time. Of course because of DUB, the alignment is now perfect. Condolences to the family.

Default So Sad to Hear this!

Dub helped me through my build step by step, on the phone with me during the front nose install, he was incredibly patient with me. However he always said he had no patience for people who do not think lol!

I have not been on the forum for over 10 years, I tried reaching out to Dub a few times over the years but emails were no longer intact. Today I logged in out of the blue and not only find out about Dub but also JohnZ’s passing, my wife is looking at me asking why I’m tearing up, well because these men helped so many when they had their own lives and businesses to run. I feel honored to have know Dub and hope his dear wife’s heart heals with time. RIP good fella! Count (Carlo)

and we were like two peas in a pod.

Every year since- my wife and I would visit him at his shop while driving through Charlotte.
I'll will so miss the calls with him exchanging ideas- brainstorming whatever might work.

I know numerous forum members who he help out- spending hours on the phone- just because he could- expecting nothing in return.

A genius- with a heart of gold.

I knew he was sick- had lost some weight-but thought he'd just kick it- hell we are only a couple months apart... Damn!

I miss you brother- see you on the other side-

I remember that day like it was yesterday Richard. Dub opened his shop to us; gave us a great tour; even handed us some items to use on our wiring builds saying here, try these, they work. Generous and kind, and yes he loved those big dogs. Remember the C-2 in the paint booth? What a stunning example of craftmanship and attention to detail. I will never forget that day for sure.
I was too stunned to respond initially and still at a loss for what to say except I'll miss you Dub and look forward to seeing you one day again in heaven. He never loss the passion for people, his business, and our collective love of the Chevrolet Corvettes. RIP Dub.

Dear Friends/Family:
My husband/best friend of 23+ years, Albert “Dub” Dubnicka, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 15th while working at his business. He was 59 years old. He is survived by four sisters, Marcia, Barbara, Kathy and Sue.
He was known throughout the Country for his knowledge and perfection to detail in the restoration/repair of Corvettes.
His work was his passion along with his great love of all his dogs, and he loved playing air guitar in his shop to his favorite band and idol, the great Eddie Van Halen with the Van Halen group.
He is now with all our beloved pets and family, who I know were waiting to greet him in heaven.
I am now in the process of closing his business, which will take many months, but I am so thankful for all the support I am receiving from business associates and friends.
Every day when I “talk” to Dub, I tell him this isn’t goodbye, but “see you later”. His spirit is free to pop in and out to visit, no more stress, no more worries. If heaven is at all the way our Wolfgang described it, he is now in an awesome place.
If you would like to do something in his memory, please donate to the Doberman Rescue of the Triad, or your favorite animal rescue or other charity.
I feel like half of me is missing right now. Never let a day go by without appreciating your loved ones – even those times when you are aggravated with them – every day seeing and talking to them is a blessing.
My condolences to his family. He was very generous with his time and knowledge and really seemed to enjoy sharing it. He helped me out a couple times and if that was his goal he succeeded. Too young for sure

He PMed me some great advice. I'm sorry I never got to meet him in person. Part of his legacy will be his great contributions to this Forum. RIP @DUB.

Our friend will be missed, a most generous man with his time and talent, NEVER too busy to stop and talk through a problem with anyone who simply asked him. Rest well my friend.

Yes- I remember all too well David-

I reached out to Dub's wife-
She is hanging in there- however Dub didn't have a will nor a place with all his accounts/passwords-
I am right now adding the wife to the business checking account- and putting together a list of accounts/passwords.

Dub was a great teacher- maybe this last lesson will help others out too-

Lynn told me she was graciously loaned an empty warehouse to move the cars and stuff for a year.
I will make the trip up there soon to help out-If members are interested- please feel free to contact me and I'll let you now the details as I get them.

I too was saddened to hear the news yesterday. When I was new to the C3 forum, his responses were always invaluable. But then I was truly surprised by something he did. I was having a vacuum issue on our '72 and did a post about it. Out of the blue, DUB pm'd me and gave me his phone number. He told me to call him anytime and he'd walk me through the solution. As I read through the comments in this thread, it's acts of kindness like this that DUB is known for - multiple times. This is a great legacy and example, and one that is inspiring to me to try and do the same for others.

My thoughts and prayers to DUBs family and friends. I have faith that he is well cared for. Paul

Great guy, he will be missed on here, but he won't be forgotten. He left us with a lot of expertise.

RIP

As a great teacher, maybe his final lesson to us all is to make sure we have a will in place, at any age!
