Well people posting in the WRONG locations is NOT an excuse to not split. It IS an excellent reason to have a moderator that would MOVE the posts to the appropriate locations. And perhaps repeated offenses could be cause for removal of some those precious stars under the names that people seem to covet so much

I know myself I've accidently posted OT stuff in C3 Gen and Parts for Sale. Also posted parts for sale in OT. We old farts can only open one door at a time.

oh i beg to differ...
it certainly IS a great reason not to split...
because while you are surfing the tech forum looking for what you want to see, it will be over there unnoticed in general...
of course, unless you are going to look in both and therefore whats the point of splitting it???????
and im sure the mods will love the extra work...

it is clean and simple the way it is now...why mess with it???
if it aint broke...dont fix it...

THE SOLUTION ......

Have a section just for GrandSportC3 so we do not have to be victimized to his BUBBAism . He then can really rack up the post count talking to himself. All the other C3 sections will be at least 50% lighter with intelligent questions, valuable information.

Extra work? All it would take is a once-a-day move of the newest OT threads to the appropriate location. I have seen forums as large as this and larger do the EXACT same thing.

Clean and simple? Hardly!!! Tech posts disappear in a few hours behind "does this color on my Vette make me look younger/more mature"
and "does a Corvette REALLY attract more girls".

Garbage like that has to be waded through to find a few interesting TECH subjects. Trust me...start taking away those stars and you will see that crap stop VERY quickly.

Default Split it!

You know, I come to this forum only occasionally cause I don't spend enough time with my Vette--this forum is very intimidating to a newbie. Splitting the forum makes sense to me. Any forum I am a part of is split--it just takes a good/consistent mod to run it. Or a couple of mods--one for each section.

And, "it takes more time" is bogus. Come on...what maybe a few more sections to sift?? You to busy for that? Couldn't you avoid topics by avoiding certain forums?

I'm for the split!

Very True....

If you're just casually browsing it might take an extra minute to go through all of the posts, BUT if you're looking for something informative it will take forever.

well well...look at how busy the nay sayers are trying to bring their point across...where in the past, when they were leading in the polls they would just ridicule the ones in favor of the plit

I'm having a field day...we have you guys by the nads LOL and it ain't even close
I agree with Dep, and with the search function not working half of the time a clean Tech section is even more important. I think the tech section is what makes or breaks the forum, knowledge shared there for everyone to learn. If you just want to BS around you can do that on any forum, that's not what distinguishes this corvette forum from any other (although some people may see a babes section as a big plus LOL )

I voted Yes...Really, I think we should have our C3 section more like C4 and C5 with a Tech and a Forced Induction/Nitrous section. Why do they get all the good stuff???

This is the reason why, When I was setting up and tuning my nitrous sys, I tried looking at the C4-C5 section. They have NO revelant info because they run FI instead of carbs. I had to go to a Mustang site for any good info (may the chevy gods forgive me) but they were the only ones that had the answers to my questions that I could easily find.

I'm with Twin_Turbo and DJ Dep on this one, and just why are we not allowed to have the flexibility that the other forums on this site have available?

I looked at a post earlier complaining about the limited support from the Corvette magazines available having limited coverage of the C-3 and even more of earlier stages. We have a span of 1968 - 1982 longer than any other stage of Corvette and you can include C-2 relativity to our chassis giving it from 1963 - 1982 a span of 19 years of Corvette in one suspension.

Yet here we are stuck in the stone age with one bicycle to share with about ten kids in the family.............jim

Split it and let it breath!!!

EJ82:
the C4/C5/C6 after-market industry is fueling ALL of the newer-Vette technology (how many times can the Corvette magazines DO another C5 exhaust/muffler article?):
ain't many owners of the '84-up Vettes doing-it out in their garage, by-themselves, based-on hard-learned common-sense.....
It's all about the tuners, and their packages.....

we ( C3 ) are the number 1 corvette related forum in threads and post count.

84k threads and 815k posts

The C1/C2 combined section has only 140k posts so it wont be too long before GrandsportC3 has more posts than the whole C1/C2 section has had since inception.
