It is! Only fitting, I think. Can you believe the life that your engine saga has taken on?
Nope......but I think it's of great interest because this is everyone's worst fear when turning the key on a new motor.
Bottom line on the dyno discussion: One of the major reason's I bought this motor from blueprint was because of the assumed actual dyno. I would get with my motor. Other companies didn't offer this. That played a major role in making my final decision.
I have looked a the site numerous times, and don't see how a reasonably intelligent person, would think otherwise. This still pizzes me off.

OMG - I hate you for posting this .. I just spent the last 2 hours reading this thread, reading the offshoots and articles that where posted. I now know more about this damn engine then I could have ever hoped or not-hoped for.. Damn you! lol
So recap for everyone who doesn't want to read the entire post:
Guy buys engine
Guy installs engine
Engine runs after inital start up
Next day, engine seizes up on first trial run
Guy work's w/ company to get engine replaced under warranty
Guy gets permission to have a 3rd party inspection done prior to shipping it back to manufacturer
Guy spends week tearing block apart and posting pics of the ensuing damage he found
Engine is sent to 2 diff 3rd party vendors for analysis
Discrpencies where pointed out over what was advertised and what was actually received
Questions came into play as to the quality of the actual block
Crappy headers may be part of the blame
Engine has been sent back to manuf. now
Waiting on their prognosis.
Through the entire thread, there was some interesting things that happened:
1 - The thread blew up and had 30k views and nearly 1k posts
2 - The thread seems to be going all over the internet now, since I have just seen it posted on 3 other boards I frequent
3 - The manuf. in question is now aware of the thread on this site and is monitoring it apparently
4 - The guy who started this post was suspended from their board for 10 days for a post relating to his opinion on someone elses comments about a dog being killed
5 - I lost 3 hours of my life and probably will continue now to monitor that thread till there is some resolve..

Again, I think that you've hit it right on the head.
In one of my prvious jobs, I was responsible for providing technical support and approval of claims that were put on product labels. In many cases, this was about wording things in such a way to make it sound like something that people want while not saying anything that you'd ever have to support.
As a consumer, it's amazing the number of times that I get sucked into making a choice based on one claim like dyno tested. As a resonably inteligent consumer, you shop around and make comparisons.
Sad thing is, if your engine didn't go south, you'd probably be feeling great about the choice you made. Without all of the input and looking inside, you'd never know the difference.
Someone mentioned that maybe the company won't lose much business over this because very few people here on this forum were in the market for an engine anyway. That may be true, but many of us are also registered on other forums, and I have seen a link to this on V8Buick. It's only a matter of time before it's posted everywhere, although I will not link it until I see the results.
I really hope this company does the right thing in this case.
I am in the market for an engine, but now I'm not sure I can trust any of the big engine builders.
I have built a few engines in the past, but I really can't spare the time to do another one. I'm going to be looking at a GM crate engine as I have some friends who have dealerships, and I know I won't be scammed.

I think this is what they call "the sh*t hitting the fan!"
National exposure on various internet websites!! Now why didn't I think of that? They do indeed make more crates than just chevy sblocks!! They make crates for GM, Ford, Chrysler, Marine applications, and Race Engines.
This is better than starting a MarshallEnginesSuck.com website with a blog!! (still thinking of doing that pending the outcome).

The users of this forum may not hurt Blueprint engines sales, but perhaps if NAPA were to pull the plug? Hmmmmm......
So they make motors for napa? After this thread I decided maybe not blueprint engines. I was thinking of just getting a short block at napa and doing the heads and cam myself. If that is the case, I guess I won't be doing that either.
Lose business? Probably not. But they sure will lose potential customers, and that means something. Future business=growth=success. This is not exactly a repeat type of market. Most buys are one time.
Exactly. And if you also consider that the average car
collector may not have the means or knowledge to pull
an engine out of a car at the drop of a hat, why would
someone want to gamble the risk.
The major arguments I've heard from speed shop
mechanics who do engine rebuilds are concerns of
mediocre parts, sloppy tolerances & questionable workmanship.
Frankly, in my own humble opinion, this is the kind of thing
that unfairly casts a major shadow over the crate engine
business in general.

Thats awesome. Man i hope the big wigs at blueprint and marshall are reading this right now.
I'm betting you get a new motor with a few extra goodies and a real dyno test sheet. If not they may have to start a new bussiness making blueprint boat anchors.
