L82Shark - aren't you feeling a bit under the weather, slight fever... Thought there was a sick day or two one the agenda to do the exhaust install. Come on man! There are serious inquiring minds just waiting for all the cool G-2 and picts!!!

Hopefully the cross member issue got worked out.

Hey, got my Pypes exhaust on Wednesday the 27th. I just did a trial fit on my '73 with the th400. Here are some pics. The images are not great as I only have enough room to squeeze under while on stands.

Seems like plenty of room. I can even attach to the stock, front exhaust hanger at the base of the tranny.

It seems as if the x-pipe lines-up. There 2 's' bend pipes that give some room for alignment. You have to look at the pipes carefully when they get installed. It appears as if they are right and left handed...the instructions are not very clear regarding this. The "s" bends fall short of the collectors by 12" to 18". I will weld some pipe to make up the difference. I intend on having this all done today. First, I really have to install my new fuel tank.

I will post more pics and possibly a sound clip when completed.

THose are Dynomax Cyclone Ceramic Headers.

Streetpro.

I ran into some difficulties today. The fuel tank straps are too short. I spent way too much time trying to get them to fit. So, needless to say, I did not finish. Tomorrow?

I think it's because they offer a downpipe to extend to the stock manifold. I imagine it would be hard to account for all the different length headers. But still, it would have been nice to get another 12" to 18" of stinless to make the connection.

I realized that I am not that smart. I looked at the before pics this morning and found that I had the fuel tank postioned incorrectly. I will be back at it again this afternoon.

Yep, had planned on taking a couple of sick days to finish the ac box rebuild and exhaust install, then, I GOT SICK, first minute I felt better had to go to FT Bliss, turn around and go to Atlanta for a week. Got home from there and had to run a CP exercise this weekend. I am taking of Wednesday on and gonna complete this thing, the weather is too nice.

I am concerned about the 12-18 shortage of pipe, I am going to check mine Wednesday and let ya'll know. Their ad says it will hook to headers but you had to buy the downpipe extensions to hook to manifolds. I am hooking to headers..... If its short I will raising some hell!

Take a look at McJacks shorty headers, They are direct replacements for the stock manifolds and are designed to hookup to stock pipes, No clearance issues either.

Here are the lastest pics.

Firrst, the alignment to the collector ends was near perfect. A little persuasions was required. Second, I did not finish. Ran out of time.

I will be calling Pypes tomorrow to have them answer o few questions.

- Are the "s" pipes supposed to be that short of the collectors?
- Does the arrow on the x-pipe plate point toward the front or indicate air flow direction?
- Which way is the bend on the rear of the x-pipe face, upward or downward?
- Why are the "polished" tips not polished?
- Can you ship 2 more hanger blocks? They are missing from the kit.
- What is the "bonus" pack that is listed on the parts list? I did not get one.

I know this is a new system for Pypes, but these issues need to be ironed out.

MZMGB: I think I can answer a few of the answers for you????

The "S" pipes are meant to be that length, I had talked to Chris at Pypes and he explained, that I would have to bridge the gap between it and the headers.
The arrow on the X pipe points toward the front of the car.
The bend on the end of the X pipe faces upward.
I agree with you on the polished tips....the description clearly states that they are supposed to be....mine aren't either.
Amen on the missing block hangers....I only got two also.
I believe I read somewhere that the bonus kit consisted of the Pypes hat and some decals...I did get.
I just opened mine up about 1 hour ago...I am ready to install as soon as possible....maybe tomorrow night...work has been tough. I ordered mine in December, and just got it late last week.....You?

I got sick of waiting for them to release the system so I got a set of their violator mufflers and custom fabbed up my own system with a set of rear sections from corvette central and then just made the rest myself. The violators sounds mean.

NTMMD8R

Thanks for the info. I forgot about the hat and stickers. I did get them. I still want to call them on the hanger blocks. I'm can probably get them locally but, I want then to fix the problem for others. I wll also suggest they add 2 more clamps for those who do not wish to weld the extension piece to the "s" pipe.

Called Pypes. They apologized for the missing hanger blocks and said I would have them on Wednesday. They are going to check on the "polished" tips. I wasn't quite sure how that issued was resolved.

The difference from the "s" pipe to the collector was left intentionally so that the system could accommodate various header manufacturers.

The extra 2 clamps I had suggested are supplied with the downpipe kit for stock manifolds. I will weld mine.

NTMMDR : You said "The bend on the end of the X pipe faces upward."

The rep said the x-pipe bends DOWNWARD to clear under the rear. The output legs of the x-pipe should be parallel to the ground. See my earlier posted pics. Not to be confused with the instructions that say "... should not point towards the ground".

Not sure I completely understand this. Does this mean that "extra" pipe needs to be bought/acquired to fill the gap?

What are you doing at the rear of the car for a tip?

BTAL : Yes, you supply the pipe to fill the gap.

Guru_4_hire : They supply a bent-down tailpipe. not quite stock for a '73. I could just polish the stainless tailpipe or I could fab up something to come out staight like original except, I probably could not use the stock tips. Just don't know yet.
