same here, as soon as I get the AC box back on (today hopefully) I can hang the headers and start installing it. I finally got the poly motor mounts installed and the firewall painted the other night.

Aaaagh, the suspense is killing me.... Have got the order in my Wishlist on Summit just waiting.
Good luck to both of you. From what I've seen Jerry is having more fun than a barrel of monkeys with his PC "discoveries".
Well, it's installed...almost. I need to figure out what I want to do with the tailpipes.
Some points of interest.
-The driver's side pipe is shorter that the passenger's side. I had to make up a spacer in order to obtain the proper exit height. Pypes needs to increase the hanger wire length.
-The tailpipes do not come out in the center of the rear panel opening on a '73. Both left and right pipes exit toward the outside of the openings. If you try to center you will interfere with the tire carrier. Maybe PYpes can move the exit pipe more for this year.
-Absolutely dry fit everything with the tire carrier in place. You will have to make some adjustments.
-THe Pypes band clamps are 15mm nuts.
-Buy extra band clamps. I bought (4) stainless, wide clamps at Car Quest for $8.50 each. Well worth it. This will come in handy when you need to replace the extension piece to your collectors. Especially if you don't make them from stainless.
Pardon the appearance...I am still stripping the car. I just needed to put the exhaust on to rid my garage of the coffin-sized box.
I will post a sound clip as soon as I get some gas!
There are some answers there regarding the "gap" to the headers, as well as, other items.
So am I understanding this correctly- the headpipes aren't long enough to mate up to your headers without a spacer pipe added? If that's the case, I definitley won't be purchasing one. Cutting them down if too long is no problem-another ugly welded/clamped joint that doesn't need to be there is.
Are the welds on the mufflers rusting? When I did my system I bought the polished ones for a little bit more. They are shinny.
This is when I was mocking it up for welding.

Yes, the pipes are intentionally left short. Pypes has made the system to mate with their downpipes. There is also the question of varying lengths of headers to deal with.
JustinD: No, the muffler joints are not rusting. These are stainless as well. The weld joints will look this way if they are polished. The metal will discolor from the heat.
I got the headers back on last nite, after about 10 longnecks, I started to hang the system. It may have just been me, but I could not get the mufflers and tips to come out in the right place. I am going back out there today and have another go at it. The hardest part is finding where to place the center hangers, I take you have to drill the holes in the crossmember but I didnt want to drill them til I was sure of the location, the damn thing keeps wobbling around under there!
I agree, the center hangers are tough. Jackstands under the x-pipe, knees and elbows on the muffler and chips and crud in your eyes. Once you have you location remove the muffler to get rid of the excess weight on the pipe while hanging.
Lots of patience. I tried for 2 days to get the mufflers to line-up. It will happen.
I found that you need a 1-1/2 longer hanger rod or spacer on the frame to get the driver's side correct. The passenger side was cake.
Don't tighten anything until the hangers are in place.
RogieStone, Got some pics? Maybe there is something we could have missed.
I have summit headers all I had to do was cut 2, 9 1/4'' 2 1/2'' pipes to bolt then weld to the s pipe and then to the collector I will try to post some pics tonight
Here's the clip. I have not edited it for length. It's about 1.9mb in size.
These are streetpros. My wife is mad. She asked me "What it will sound like when I get the exhaust fixed? Sounds like it's broken." Then she said the stuff in the wall unit was shaking. I don't she could have said anything else that could have made me happier....
I got mine from Pypes a few weeks ago. It's the polished version. The x-pipe is 409 stainless steel (hard to polish) and the rest is 304 polished stainless. Mine didn't bolt up quite right. I had the collector extenders fabbed to the x-pipe, but then on the back one side fit fine, then the other was a little off. I had to force it in the right spot. I'm gonna have to take it to a performance shop to adjust the pipes and weld it up. I also have an issue where the x-pipe rattles in the crossmember holes. I used a welding blanket to cut pieces to stop the rattle. It also sits a little low causing scraping on speed bumps.
Overall, I wish I had just paid a custom fabricator to do the work...

Has a nice smooth sound to it, must be the x-pipe. Sounds good. You want to shake the earth the violators are for you. I need to make a better video this was just last summer after I got it put together not much reving maybe 2500 to 3000.
