I’ve been hoping to see a video with a hood on and it driving down the road.

No hood IMHO, ITBs should stick out so everyone can see them.

If I remember correctly, David was building a hood Thad was partly clear so the ITB’s were visible.

And we haven’t seen enough of your progress lately either

Me? My c3 is pretty much complete. Been cruising it thousands of miles, plus trips to the drag strip to run low 10s. After the C3, I built a 4 cyl, turbo, 5 speed manual... Dodge Caravan. And now I'm building a BMW with an LS engine and Dual Clutch transmission. Click the links to my builds in my signature. I don't want to hijack his thread.

OK- last year was a - exciting one. I was never a fan of rollercoasters and that's what I was on !!!

Got divorced-then she wanted to get back together- sold my house-then moved into her place- then that didn't work so I moved 300 miles away to Florida- Amelia Island.

I've landed on my feet- all the stars were aligned- sold my house for more than I expected- found a house on the Amelia river cheaper than I thought possible!

My car is sitting in storage in Atlanta- trying to line up an enclosed trailer- and headed back up to get the parts this next week.

My goal- Hotrod Power Tour this year- already booked the hotels!!!
  • Day 1: Monday, June 12 - Atlanta Motor Speedway, Hampton, Georgia
  • Day 2: Tuesday, June 13 - South Carolina State Fairgrounds, Columbia, South Carolina
  • Day 3: Wednesday, June 14 - Rockingham Speedway, Rockingham, North Carolina
  • Day 4: Thursday, June 15 - zMAX Dragway, Concord, North Carolina
  • Day 5: Friday, June 16 - Bristol Motor Speedway, Bristol, Tennessee
Sooooo ready to get back working on the car- couple of bugs-oil leak is the killer- probably have to pull the transmission.
I'm busy setting up my garage right now- but the backyard views keep distracting me.
Love it here- and it costs way less to register my cars/truck down here- no state income tax and my property tax is 1/3 of Atlanta. Too bad it's full down here- and no one else can move here!!!

Oh- any Corvette.affectionados passing though-hit me up!!!
I am finishing up a couple small bedrooms to be a hotel suite- stop by- don't cook but there's plenty of restaurants!!!

My backyard-

In jail right now-

Hey Richard, sorry to hear about the divorce, I know that feeling all too well!! Welcome to Florida, Wish you were a lot closer to my area by Kennedy Space Center Ive had some electrical issues with some old Yamaha's I'm restoring that I'm positive you could have figured out. Would also love a ride in that bad *** Vette. Glad you landed on your feet and are happy in your new surroundings...

Hey Richard,
Nice to see you are doing great and have recovered from the divorce.
They can be rough emotionally and financially.
I went through a divorce about ten years ago, but I am in such a better place now than I would had ever imagined.
The best wife in the world and the best life!

Richard, sorry for the tough year, but glad you've landed in a good place in more ways than one.

Can you believe you started this thread 13 years ago??!! I've followed it periodically and am really impressed with the level of creativity, ingenuity, and workmanship. Very cool. Best, Paul

Hey Richard,
I’m glad to see you got “IT” (hopefully we can still refer to our cars as an it, without offending, LOL) home.
I’m looking forward to following along to see what’s next on your build.

Btdt on the divorce thing. Came out way better on the back side. Couldn't afford a Vette until I got rid of my first wife. Now happily remarried and she loves old cars too, in fact we got her an MGB for herself that she loves. Been following your progress on yours since day 1. I love the dare to be different approach you took, and good luck on the Power Tour. That's something I really need to do some day.

Richard,

Good luck to you in Florida. It looks like you have a heck of a location.

Make sure you go to the Amelia Island car show next month. There are going to have a Le Man Corvette display.

Regards,
George

Hey wait, I'm confused. Do I see 12 coils? I thought you were running wasted spark. Can't you find some coils that have a dual output?
correct me if I'm wrong it looks like he was running 1 coil per cylinder with a wasted spark setup. So each cylinder has its own coil but its wired together with its distinctive pair. I was confused about this too, but I looked into it and it is a thing. its popular among miatas. I guess one of the benefits would be a better duty cycle than a single coil being shared b/w the 2. But yea it definitely would be easier to run with v6 wasted spark coil packs like the GM 3.8 for example

Originally he was running 1 coil per cylinder. So he had 12 LS coils, but triggered two at a time for wasted spark (also wasted coils). Then some smart *** suggested he switch over to two 6 cyl coil packs. Each 6 cyl coil pack have 3 coils and 6 spark plug outputs for wasted spark.
Now he runs something like this:
