1972 C3 Aussie Build
Okay so I decided to go complete fuel hard line from pump to carb.
I have ordered everything I need to complete the job including a 37 degree flare tool as I'll be running 6AN fittings from pump to carb with an inline fuel filter.
So next thing I did was put the passenger side trailing arm in. I decided that I would align the rear axle myself so I ordered a shim kit for the trailing arms so I can get it spot on.
Diff it back in.
Definitely not show quality but I have the whole rear end KBS coated and it will be functional. I didn't do the half shafts, I'm kind of wishing I did but figure when I take them out to replace the uni joints I'll give them a clean up and paint.
Still waiting on parts to complete the rear end, parts being rear brake hoses and pipes that run along the caliper. Caliper seal kit and trailing arm shim kit.
When I get these the process will be:
Rebuild Calipers and paint.
Fit brake lines and hoses.
Refit rear suspension.
Align rear end to factory spec.
So whilst I've been waiting on parts I decided to put a kit through the Holley carb.
All done. Now I'll wait til I get my fuel hard line done before putting it back together.
Not as clean as people get but once again I'm just after a weekend cruiser not a show car.
So my next steps for the motor will be to clean the intake manifold.
Fit the hard line and carb, adjust valves, upgrade to HEI. Get running nicely and then go from there.
I decided I'd work on two areas at once so whilst I'm waiting on parts with one area I can still get some things done on another area. I also bought a whiteboard that I've hung up in the garage to plan my next steps!
Spot on, it's already 80% full.
On niught shift for the next 7 days starting last night so 6 more to go.
\Didn't feel like doing too much but I took the rocker cover off to see if I could clean it up alright and it's come up better then expected.
I'll be doing the same to the other side and the air cleaner.
Also some parts arrived today. Got my brake hoses and rear caliper rebuild kit!
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Taking the whole clip off in one piece is the best way to go , you need to see how bad the bottom surround is , but with rust that bad , I would say your firewall to steel join is not so good anymore .
anyway , I have been there , so if I can help let me know ,

I have a '74 coupe and have offered help to several C3 owners over the years and I live in Highett, if that's any help. Someone you should consider calling is David Keeley at Enterprize Automotive Engineering in Blackburn. 9877 1344. David works on nothing but C2 and C3 Corvettes and has probably forgotten more than most Corvette owners know about their cars. I am the Australian Distributor of Borgeson Universal and have a modern Borgeson integral power steering box in my C3 that brings the steering into the 21st century on these cars. When you get your car on the road, you might find that the steering is not what you would expect from a great looking car like the Corvette. You are welcome to come down and take mine for a drive to see what proper power steering is like in these cars. Let me know

I'm from southeast Queensland, originally from the states. Just did my windshield frame as well. But must admit mine wasn't as drastically bad as yours
Rust in upper left hand corner, when I hit this with a wire wheel, it opened up a hole the size of a 20cent coin. (Like a quarter for the Americans). Fortunately for me it was just the outer most layer that was badly rusted. Some light surface rust in both lower corners and upper right.
In the process of cleaning up the lower windshield frame.
Sealed with rust converter and painted with a satin epoxy enamel. And yes that's factory red paint on the top of the T bar. Don't think the stainless trim had ever been off on this car. A bit of a welding project, but a small one compared to what your looking at. Lot's of really good advice on this forum however. If you can weld, you'll get there in the end.

If anyone has any tips / measurements for this that would be great.
Also I ordered some Vette Panel Adhesive but it got denied to be sent to Australia for some reason (Got a refund though)
I'm after a similar product, what's similar guys?
I can think of 3 things that might help you with the shape , if your windscreen glass is still in one piece , you could use the shape and guesstimate the curve, or make a fibreglass edge off the glass so your not handling the full glass piece. . Or if someone is local with the same year birdcage that doesn't have a windscreen in it , you could get some fibreglass and make a skin off the corner and use that to check your shape as you go ?

Hmmm, I'm thinking I'll put the windshield in and fit the bonding strip and it should give me a rough idea then I'll use some tig rods and make a shape by bending them to try and get it correct and make a sort of mould.
Also in regards to the VPA which I don't have access too.
I just bought some kitty hair for a bargain and some rage ultra.
But I just found out I do have access to West Systems. What are peoples thoughts on West Systems and what product do you use.

Fiber Tech is available here and i was lucky to get half a tin of VPA from Brad ”Wabaco“ in Perth as it goes off once opened. Was great stuff and I used it in conjunction with Rage.
if it helps I am sure there are sure are people people in Australia who would like a tin or two of VPA to keep on hand.
If you can buy a box and get it shipped in a container I will pay for a couple.
also West Systems make good stuff. I used a their epoxy as well as polyester based resins on my 71 as it has a mix of panels types.
covered it somewhere in pages 50s or 60s in my build thread.
