it's weird. When I take the bog out there is old glue behind it on the bonding strip but no fibreglass. So it's as if they have used bondo to join the two panels and only bondo, no wonder it cracked the way it did.
I'm hoping by glassing and using the bonding adhesive/filler powder in my epoxy it will give it some more strength
I should have asked before , have you got any pics that show the two panels close together ?

I can see that you are pretty savvy with this kind of work and doing a good job with it. If you are not already aware of it, the rounded corners of the headlamp bucket openings are a very common place for cracking to start. If you have not done so already, you should 'beef up' those corners from the backside so that cracking can't initiate.
