Great work. I'm enjoying your progress and your skills.

I have a thought that is WAY in advance of your needed this info, BUT...if you are planning to do any work on your A/C system (convert to 134a, etc), NOW is the time to break the connections on that old VIR loose (and then just snug them back down) so you can remove it later when the fender is back on. The fittings on that thing are dang-near impossible to break loose because of such limited access when the fender is installed.

Good to know. I will do that, just in case I decide to refit the ac.

So today I put the windshield in and unfortunately put a 3 inch crack on the passenger side. It's the windshield that was in it when I got it so I'm not too stressed about it, I think I'll leave it in for now until everything else is done and then I'll get someone out to change it.

disappointing but it is what it is!

Is AC not a must have item down under? I thought it was hot 365 days of the year. You should definitely look in to a vintageair kit.

Seeing as you are in the Northern suburbs call Windscreen Deals ask for Greg. He is old school and does plenty of vettes. 0418356200. No affiliation just know his work is first class.

In answer to the Hot 360 days a year comment.
depends on where in Australia you live. True enough it never snows in Miami Florida. Same is true of Cairns Queensland. But in Minnesota, not true. South Australia? Melbourne Victoria . Maybe not northern Wisconsin, but not always Hot.
remember, Australia is about the size of the continental 48 states. Not a small place.
still, I'm in Queensland. Some say it's winter now. But I have flowers in front of my house. It gets down to as cold as 46 degrees at night. (A couple nights a year). Locals here are Freezing!
I just ride my Harley.

A lot of good work there Mate. However, I might remind you, this is an American car. It doesn't have a "Bonnet". That's an English or Aussie term. Your car has a hood! And yes I live in Queensland Australia. But I have a Corvette. With a HOOD over the engine. Let's get with it Mate.

Don't forget these are essentially factory hand-assembled kit cars. Each one varied.

This is exactly where the art comes in, making it all fit together like it belongs there.

Isn't this the same clip that came off?

You should check out the issues Rvizio had with gafting a clip and a door and a fender from like 3 different cars onto his! And he had the nerve to paint it all Black. But it's beautiful now.

Allright just looked over your build, both doors and hood and clip all came off right?
Body mounts untouched?
In that case I would put the clip back where it came off, and refit the doors. But before glue I would check the hood fit and the wiper door too.
Maybe someone else can recommend which one goes first? Hood? Wiper door? Front clip? doors?

it is the same clip and doors

I've dummy fitted the wiper door and it appears there's a slightly larger gap on the driver side.

can you link me to the thread, I did a quick search and couldn't find it haha

My OCD seems to think you position the hood first, up against the wiper door.
Then comes the fenders around the hood.
Then the doors.
And from what I have read online, every time you add one more part you wind up readjusting a lot more.
Check in the paint & body section for experts on this.

Great news!

You're lucky, you still had left the rad support in place.
I have the feeling I am going to have a little bit more trouble with mine after I pull the clip off, since every nut & bolt on the car is coming apart.
And especially since I just straightened the bent frame, it was 32mm high on the drivers corner to do probably being in a ditch at one point!
So nothing will line up again!!!!

Let me know when you want to make it a truly Down Under build, I have a 350 block with the casting number upside down, only one I've ever seen...

And good luck with your project. It's good to know you won't be bored for a couple of years, huh?

Haha, I've never heard of that!

Well it's been a life saver during these periods of lock down due to covid 19.

Speaking of, there was an announcement today and I was hoping I would be able to have a helper or two come to my house and help me bond the front clip, however it's still atleast 3 weeks off.

Would it be okay for me to work on the front clip glassing whilst it's not bonded? I have it bolted at the front and screwed in where it's supposed to be, I'm thinking I shouldn't have any issues starting some of the repairs, Anyone have any other thoughts or reasons why I couldn't?

When you get the bog off , are both the panels looking firmly bonded still ? Is the gap between them still have the original glue in there?
