73 way back machine
I am going to quit looking.
I set the drop light on the header to install a plug.
Theight shows a header flange bolt missing.
I had a bolt. Fixed.
Look up, and a header bolt is backed out "1/4".
Thin wall socket and PB Blaster solves that.
Anyhow, all the plugs are in.
I am wearing a blindfold tomorrow.

Thanks for posting the pic Fran. I'm missing that clip as well. But, the other day I was going through a box of stuff the previous owner gave me and noticed a brand new clip still in a package. Hopefully it's the right one.

So I mark the rotor position on the housing at idle
right at firing. Verify the rotor is pointing at #1 , and if I drop it in on the mark, I will be within 2* or so, and it should fire right up.
One of the.perks of having a Sun Machine.
I used to dry time points with a meter. I could get dam close.
Okay, so you hold it where you want it to be, back up the rotor counter clock about 30* As it drops in, it will turn.
If it does not drop all the way in, pull it up and turn the oil pump a tad, and retry.
Some guys can walk them, but I tire of that.
Once in, verify its ALL the way down.
wiggle the shaft up and down a tad.
It cannot bind.
If you have any space after aligning the oil pump shaft extension, use one of these.
Sometimes, the heads or manifold is machined so much it will be too tight. I have never needed more than one, and they are rarely needed at all.
