Back to work.
Wiring, wiper motor, and HEI is the final lap.
As expected, wiring is jacked.
It has a ballst resistor on the starter shunt wire, and a constant hot tied to coil.
I cannot remember if the older Unilites used current limiting or not.
My favorite is the ignition ground, third picture, simply clamped under the valve cover.
The starter leads look like type SA, silicone asbestos. Not a bad idea really. I fixed my 81 fan switch that way, till I tore that system out and went dual Spals.
I don't recall ever diving into 73 wiring, but this fusable link to hi temp wire connection sure looks factory.
The #12 solenoid wire in purple is also a rare bird.

I pulled the bottom fender access to drop the vapor tank that is doing nothing, and to access the back of the fuse block .
That crescent wrench has been there quite awhile.
Engine compartment sure looks better with Bubbas wiring on the table.
The ballast to coil wire was just twisted and taped.
I will hit the schematic tonight and devise a new scheme.
Yes sir. Thats the plan.
I recieved the 80 wiper motor. The slimmer design gives enough room. Just need the flat cover coming from CC.
I bet thats why they changed the wiper washer to a 12v pump in the reservoir, to give room for the HEI system.
Well, the book for 73 seems more accurate than the print that is online.
Although usefull, a single line would be far better for redesign.
I did find circuit 105, which is one side of the ammeter.
It is tapped off the starter hot to horn relay with an orange fusable link around the wiper motor. (Pic 3 )
The other ammeter wire should be at the horn relay, circuit 106, which is also the VS at the alternator.
So this is the engine side of the bulkhead connector. Pretty simple.
Alarm, ign, and tan can go away.
If this was a restoration, a new harness would be the ticket. This car is too modified for that.
Looks like the horn relay was changed also.
Instead of using it as a buss point, they just crimped all the wires together.
Its endless.
I will rewire the whole dam thing.
Well, the forward harness is a kludge of splices and missing fusable links. The horn relay fell off the fender.
I feel sorry for guys that find this crap.
I can see what they did, and its just "make it work, kinda."
I unplugged circuits 52, 976, 141, and the old ignition resistence wire circuit 3. With Vintage air, no alarm, and no smog, they are not needed.
I reinserted the orange blower wire into the ignition spot. Now the old blower wire is my new HEI feed.
The ignition shunt, yellow, to the starter solenoid is now gone.
Wht is this little bugger? Looks like a CB. Not sure if its original.
That's the circuit breaker I mentioned in post #81. It's for the power window circuit. On my '73 the charging circuit went from the horn relay to this circuit breaker and then on to the starter.
