ALRIGHT !!!! I am NOT going to be intimidated by some attorneys. I have an appointment with an attorney that specializes in this. I will show him the 2 logos and the most recent letter (the first letter is where it belongs....the trash). If the attorney says I'm OK, then it will be NCRS APPAREL gallore!!!!! Shirts, sweatshirts, hats, underwear ,etc!!!

I am not going to put down the "Society" or bad mouth them. They are Corvette enthusiests just like us (but in a different way). Because they turn their noses up to us and think that we "ruined" the Corvette we own. I refuse to do the same back to them. I will NOT turn this into a "war", we are all Corvette enthusiests. Again, I am consulting an attorney and if he says I'm OK and sends their attorneys a letter, I will go full blast with shirts & stuff.

It's gotten so bad with some of those "has to be correct types" I wont even park with them at shows.........I get tired of the " I paid $40,000 for 1965 NOS anti-freeze" club.

I'll take a couple of XL T-shirts when your ready.

BINGO Jeff! I suspect Money IS the BIG part of their thing. They are very double faced about it and talk out of 2 sides of their mouth. They tell you that their award has nothing to do w/ valuation. Then they turn around and use their award to trump up the values of their cars to sell to each other. The way some of their judging standards are interpreted and applied corroborate this observation about the influence of money on that segment of the hobby. Their award is highly monetarily driven it seems and I suspect money plays a significant role in how it is all managed. Indeed it appears money is (again) at the root of this current little exercise in harassing a little guy and his hilarious parody graphic.

Jeff,

What exactly was your involvement with NCRS? I've been a member for about ten years now and have seen the exact opposite. Most of the members really do enjoy the hobby and are true enthusiasts... If they happen to make a few bucks from their efforts, so what? You don't have to buy their cars when they sell them if you don't want to.

Just like that huh? I wish it was that easy.

Discredited for what? For having a judging standard that you may not agree with? For people having the knowledge and means to buy cars which might be worth more than your own car? For making a few bucks when they sell their car instead of losing their shirt?

Who are these unscrupulous members that you refer to? If they are doing something illegal or unethical, I'm certain that the NCRS Board of Directors would like to hear about it... You see they are Corvette enthusiasts like you and me and they don't want to see this hobby get a bad reputation either.

I've posted before on this forum that just because this is a hobby (and you're in it for the enjoyment) doesn't mean that you HAVE to lose money... And personally, I won't if I can help it.

Regards,

pgtr,

Please... Tell me what MY motivation is as an NCRS member. You apparently know more about it than I do.

If they are selling their cars to each other, how does this affect you? Why would you even care? Your choice is simply not to buy their cars... Why not leave it at that?

I'd be very curious as to what judging standards/interpretations you are refering to. I've judged at NCRS events for many years... The people that I have been fortunate to judge with have always been extremely knowledgable and very consistant. My reward for all of this? I get to meet some great people, look at some fantastic cars, and time permitting, a free lunch. You'll notice that I have yet to receive one penny from NCRS for any of this... I do it because I enjoy doing it.

Monetarily driven by the fact that it takes a ton of money, effort, and knowledge to restore one of these cars to a 97% (plus) score or better. Some of the people who do this are burried in their car financially... They did it simply to bring another Corvette back to its former glory.

Can the award increase the value of the car? To some people, yes... And if they don't have a problem paying more for a car with such an award I don't see why anyone else would.

I think we both know there is a lot more to it than money... But, this is one point that I don't wish to debate... I'll leave the solution for the lawyers to figure out.

Rowdy Rat,

I hear you and agree.

There's a lot of people jumping in on this thread who know nothing about the NCRS, have never been to an event, have no idea what goes on, have never been members, know nothing about the judging system, but are at the ready to sh*t all over 'them' - must be based on hear say.

The biggest mistake is confusing the arrogant attitudes of a very small minority of members (like there is in any group, including this forum) with the goals and policies of the organisation.

My former boss was quoted as saying "all people who stereotype are idiots".
Regarding the lawyers letters, there seems to be some previous correspondance regarding a reneged promise made to take down a web site. What's the story on that?

WOAAH !!! I did not want it to get this way. It should be between us, the attorneys, (I guess) the "Society" pres. (who sicked the attorneys after me and Gator). I have LOTA friends who own "Society" jugded Vettes. I highly respect what they do and how they keep the Corvette originality going. These guys provide some very important information for the Vette enthuseist that wants to restore the Corvette to exactly the way it was in the showroom, and for the history of the Corvette that is extremely important. There are many aspects to the Corvette comrodery and I enjoy all of it. Personally, if I owned a "Society" judged Vette I would have to own a second to really enjoy the full extent of the car. The "Society" approved Vettes are amazing in their own way. And NO...I am NOT sucking up!!!!

Me personally....There is nothing I have that is "stock/originale". The Vette, Harley, & Jeep are all modified one way or another. I just hate to see a mirror image at a traffic light.
