Is there any color miss match after adding the flex agent?
no I did not repaint the jambs, the color was a perfect match. I did not use flex agent on the bumpers. I have several friends in the auto body buisness and they do not use flex agent anymore. the one reason why I did not was that I was afraid of what it might do to the color. the bumpers are actually pretty stiff, and if they get bumped hard enough to damage the paint I would be repainting the entre bumper anyway
Well since you have all that expensive equipment.....id like to offer you a case of your favorite beverage to give my rear bumper a much needed re-coat...haha ..
Looks great! For those asking you should give an hour estimate of time it took to get car ready to shoot which is the smaller amount of time involved in a great paint job! Unless someone has been there it is hard to imagine amount of work involved to do it right!

dissasembly/reassembly and prep about 50 hours. actual spraying time maybe 2 hours. sand and buff out probably at least 10 more hours.and this car needed only minor body work to lower left of the hood. but hey I am not charging me for labor . my total cost for all materials was less than $600.00, it was fun and I enjoy it plus I am getting more practice for when I paint the '71
I used to do paint and bodywork and man that looks good !!!! Painting a car is not extremely difficult the equipment to do it correctly and safely is costly though. A good spray gun ain't chap and a compressor that can keep up with it will cost you as well but in the end it is all worth it. Nice Job !!
p.s. if anyone else is considering doing it invest in the tools and equipment and stay away from any wild ideas like pearls or candy colors and all will be fine if you are patient. There are a million tricks to get a good quality paint job at home but most importantly the prep before the paint and the wetsanding and buffing after the paint.
p.s.s. dammit now you got me thinking of putting a Grand Sport scheme on mine.

This may or may not be the place to ask, but it seems a good place to start...who do you entrust with painting your Vette...if you don't have a talented neighbor handy with a soft spot? I bought my first, an '87 with 75k miles on her for $6400, about a week ago and all she needs is a paint job (desperately) and a stereo (or the stereo hooked back up...not sure). As far as the present paint, there isn't even a clear coat - protective or otherwise. Do I need someone who specializes in painting Corvettes? I'm sure the price fluctuates depending on geography as well as (as yet unknown) other factors, but could someone give me a reasonable estimate? I'm a long way from a metropolitan area and I haven't hit the phone book yet...but how much is considered *reasonable* for a Vette job?

where about? with a name like Lafluer I thought you could be from around here
I'll be splitting time between Alexandria and Ville Platte. I used to pass by Jennings when I went from Ville Platte to Houston. Definitely a lot more LaFleur's in Louisiana then in Oklahoma
I just finished painting the last of the parts tonight, the hood should come out great, I put down 5 coats of clear. tomorrow I can sand and buff them out and hopefully get her back on the road by this weekend I will clean it up and take pictures when finished.
