I have an 06 C6. I love the look of the C3, that's my favorite Vette. The C6 is next then the C4. That's just my opinion though.
Truth of the matter is that any Vette is by far superior to anything in it's price class or two notches above it price for the time period it was made. The Vette gets respect from anybody that knows cars, no matter if it's a C1-6.
Bad marks from who ? Some old pompass *** who doesn't know anything other than what he reads or what his mechanic tells him
THe C5-C6 is a better car but add 200rwhp to your C4 and you will have all sorts of fun pulling buslengths on C5-C6 owners.
Yes ,you all make some good points .I have always loved all vette. I did pay for mine in cash. I enjoy my red 84 . I'm 55 years old not sure if I'm considered to be an old fart yet. In ten years when my c4 will be worth some money. I'll have something bad to say about the c5 ,c6 (unlikely). So at least they can wave when they drive by like the others do. Their day will come. Thank you all for your comments. It all turned out very interesting.

Has anyone tried to buy a decent bumper C3 lately?
The early C3 have gone through the roof.
Be patient grasshopper.........
My 88 has only 39k on it. There a few little things that need to be done, but nothing major. How much would a C5 cost me? I got this one fairly cheap and it was what I wanted.
The price on the C4's will go up as they get older, if for no other reason than the great looking body style. As far as performance goes, I don't plan on running it on the track or do any kind of racing. However, if I am on a 2 lane road and need to pass someone, it will do it with ease. It's a vette. I get a lot of compliments on it and if someone in a C5 or C6 doesn't want to waive at me, no big deal. I always wave regardless of what others are driving. Some people have personalities and others need to get one.
If I had the money, I'd own one of each generation and drive a different one each day. I guarantee I wouldn't have a negative comment about any of them.

go to the front page under the question Wow a c4 for $2800 ? are they that low? I bought my c4 in Lorain and had it trialered down to Florida. That's why my 84 only has 22800
Me personally, I am glad that others bag on the C4. I got a 64k Garage queen for $4500 and have been happy as hell for the past 18 months.
let them scoff at my ride. It has been a great purchase and I enjoy popping the Clamshell and tackling anything that tries to go wrong.....
I have the "lowly" '84.....you know what? My kid is getting to be driving age.....I think I'll get another one for him......and another for his younger brother.
Plus with older cars....it's not about value as much is how well do you keep it up. Any old Clean ride gets props. Now if you are driving along spewing motor oil with the paint falling off...that is a different story and may explain a few things.
Build a REAL engine for your C4 and laugh your *** off at the stupid remarks from the pussfags that make them. A C6 is a better car without question and so is the C5 ****ing duh. If you equal the horsepower the C4 is more fun to drive though
For a start to adding power, supercharger or cam on a L98 that is otherwise stock? Aren't they about the same price?

For a L98 I would start with the exhaust, do it once and do it right, Longtube headers bullet cats and a good cat back. I would address the intake while doing a heads and cam upgrade. A supercharger is costly and I personally prefer Nitrous over a blower anyways. If you do your own work, and you should this is not rocket science working on a s.b.c. the heads/cam,intake and exhaust could be done for less than the price of the supercharger.

Now this C3 is another story
the 305 "California"
Federal emissions requirements of the 1970s took a big neutering knife to American muscle cars, and no car bled more than the Corvette. The worst of it came in California — dang hippy librels! — where stricter state regs required that the barely adequate 350 cu.-in. smallblock in the 1980 Corvette be replaced with a wholly inadequate 305 V8, putting out 180 hp of pure shame. On top of that, the "California" Corvette sucked its pitiful rivulet of horsepower through the straw of a torque-sapping three-speed automatic transmission. That gave the Corvette — the very totem of hairy-chest, disco machismo — acceleration comparable to a very hot Vespa. These were dark days indeed.

I was in a debate in another thread about C5Z prices. Long story short I found the Chevy dealer near me has brand new 08's as low as $39k So today I checked Kelly Blue Book and NADA on my 94. Looks like trade in on mine is about $9-10k and retail of $13-14k. My point is, in 2001 I only paid $12k for the car. So for the past 6 years I have played with a world class sports car and can sell it for what I paid !! Show me how many C5/6 can do that. Think I'll keep my cheap fun toy

You may make fun of a vette with a 305, but it is the only one with a 305. I smell collectable. Ask anybody, a 305 in a vette ya right, then pop the hood and watch the jaws drop.

Very collectable.
I smell bull**** Pop the hood and jaws are going to drop Do you THINK the 305 looks different from the 350 ? You should start colleting them and when the prices go through the roof for 180chp C3s you'll be rich. I know you can sit in front of it in a lounge chair with the glorious 305 behind you and tell everyone how rare it is.
