c4 getting a bad marks

For a L98 I would start with the exhaust, do it once and do it right, Longtube headers bullet cats and a good cat back. I would address the intake while doing a heads and cam upgrade. A supercharger is costly and I personally prefer Nitrous over a blower anyways. If you do your own work, and you should this is not rocket science working on a s.b.c. the heads/cam,intake and exhaust could be done for less than the price of the supercharger.

For those that own C4s and still hate them, get rid of the C4 and buy something else, or go to the C5 C6 Forum and dog the C4 there; at least we wouldn't have to look at this crap on our forum. For those that own C4s and worry about what everyone else thinks get some ***** and forget what everyone else thinks; it is your car!

The more reputation for being slow and cheap the C4 has the better for me. I destroy C5s/C6s at most autox events and more than a few at the drags. I also know much of this is due to the car having the driver mod 
but the looks and reactions are priceless. This is about the only aspect of the neg reputation I give a hoot about. I bought the car cause I like it. Other than that I couldnt care less what anyone thinks. [shrugs shoulders]

i have run into more snobby c5 owners and havent seen any one that can drive the c6z yet. but every one know there are e alot of people who want to buy in to being cool.. a c5 or 6 wil make you look coll i guess but as in motor cycle racing its the guy in the tore up leathers that you have to look out for..NOBODY MAKES FUN OR LOOKS DOWN AT MY C4..AND IF THEY DID >>> IT WOULNT BE LONG UNTILL YOU HEAR "WOW THAT THIING REALLY GOES"...."MAN THAT CAR CAN REALLY PUT THE POWER DOWN" ..... "HOW CAN YOU GET THAT THING TO TURN LIKE THAT"..

i have a c6,owned a c5 for 8 years,my c4 zr1 is my favorite car.i have a 91 383 superram that will blow the doors off any of the cars i just mentioned.the smack talk stops when you blow by waving,some dont enjoy that wave.the newer cars are more refined but a nice c4 is a great corvette

"a C-4 for $2,800?" The more it changes the more it stays the same! In the day I bought a running driving 1967 427-435 Coupe with leather and headrest for $1,100!!! Obviously they weren't that cool then because people were buying brand new Vettes for $6,500!! Now that 67 brings 2 times+ what it cost for a new Vette!!
I sure had a lot of fun with that 67 and didn't much care what other Vette owners thought!

What I hear from C5 and C6 owners is that I've got my "beginner Corvette". They really don't disparage the vehicle, just the price, and in discussion, C5/C6 owners - if they're truly Corvette afficianados - recognize the good value for the $$ of a C4.

I think most realize the value of the C4, but the condenscending comes from assuming you have it because it's all you can afford. When in reality, most of those "affording" a C5/C6 are just paying $700/mo to a bank loan.
I deal with this problem by not giving a ****. I enjoy my cars more than most of them probably do, and I don't have any car payments. Who's the poor bastard now?

I have a C4 and wanted a C4.
I traded in my '05 C6 because it did not fulfill what I expected personally, not because it was a bad car or slow or ugly.
I am having every bit as much fun driving this C4 as I did my C6.
Maybe my expectation that a Vette is rude, crude noisey and rough came from the fact that my first ride in a Vette was a '57 built up Drag style w/a tube front end and a blown injected Rat motor back when I was 10 yo.
My C6 did not fulfill that expectation. My C4 comes a lot closer for a fraction of the dough.
I have nothing against any C5 or C6, they are great cars. It's just that the C4 seems to fit me better psychologically, and I like the snug cockpit, clamshell hood, round tail lamps, hidden headlights, rear slanting birdcage, clean slick bodylines, tires I can rotate etc.
Besides were will it stop. When the C7 comes out the is every C6 owner going to want to get one and dump their C6's?
