Carroll Smith used to say he always packed a pair
and a spare when he wrote about the racer's inventory
of essentials.

I see the pair, so where is the spare?

Looks like you may have the winning ticket here. Nice work.

Awesome, but one problem... The engine moves and shakes enough to offset that 1/8"... did you calculate for that ?

I can drop it even more, no problem. How much is enough? As you see on the hood my previous setup was much tighter than that. I am also thinking about solid engine mounts. A friend of mine did that and it was not as bad as I expected.

He still has an ace up his sleeve. The ribs on the top can
probably stand to be milled if required. Not to mention that
he may still have room to drop the plenum further.

JoBy, if you don't need to mill the top, give some consideration
to welding dummy bolts into place on top of the plenum.
Imagine how this will confound those who think they
know their C4 fitments and are left to wonder how come
the HSR works for you.

Then Holley won't have called it the Stealth Ram for nothing.

Are you going to do the welding or will someone else weld it?

Will you TIG weld it?

I'd like to see the underhood shot with the throttle body installed.

I will have someone else weld it for me, probably TIG.

I don't have a throttle body yet ...

My first question is how did you crawl under the hood with the motor in and shut it?

Good way to go man.... I've played with plenty-o-holley stealth rams and shortened them and made them fit where they do not belong.

I'll have to measure the HSR in the shop and see if the single plane conversions will fit under that hood as well if you have 8cm of area above the base. I've had better results with carb based race manifolds (better or more flow when ported and the intake bolted on to 300cfm heads) and have guys asking me if they fit or not, guess I will have to check now!

Good work keep it up.

Now that I think of it, the long block is the ONLY part on my C4 that hasn't come out at one time or another.

I have lowerd it a bit more now to 1/4" hood clearence.

I have also finished the base. It was a bit high when looking thru the throttle holes so I ground off there. Other than that all the runners are full length.

I think I'm missing how you mount the plenum to the base now. Are you welding it? Also, why not just mill the runners down? Seems to me that would be the easier solution. Fabbing up a way to mount the fuel rails as mentioned previously can't be too hard.

It takes way more work to mill the runners down that much. Been there done that.

I am going to weld them together.

If you have a CNC mill with the correct programming it would be very easy to do the main part of the plenum modification.

It was not even that bad to do by hand with the air tool grinder I used. As it is now is not even a full weekend of work.
