For a while I was thinking some of you guys would actually make a character judgement on me because I own a WRX.
Anyway about the styling of my wRX..
I always referred to it looking like a loaf of bread with a hood scoop!
Subaru. Owned by fuji heavy equipment. MAke HUGE earth movers, etc.
What do those engineers know about styling.?
Mechanically, reliabilty, build quality, bang for the buck, fun factor, it is one of the best cars I ever bought. Still ugly.
Why in Hell can't Corvette guys admit that maybe, just maybe, their car isn't God's gift to the world of motor sports? I love Corvettes, but damn, they are not the be all, end all of automobiles.
They're not? They have sex appeal and sex is very important!
If a 2.0L Evo or 2.5L 4 bangin' Suby can push a 3200 lb car faster than a regular 5.7L V8 can, then its a torque monster! Better put that in a Vette cuz it can push it faster than an old worn out Chebby motor...
.
LOL, I have driven the subaru. Let me tell you....you aint getting much more horsepower out of that lil banger. If you mod a V8, you get get 600-700hp on pump gas. What about 550hp stock C6s?
When I am finished with my mild mods....I will pimp slap that subaru all over the place. I am only losing to him by half a car, and that's only because he gets the huge jump on me off the line (its unbelievable if you witness it). It seems as though mid speed accel is the same. . .but the vette's got a little more wind up left. Its the same situation with the new Zs.

FIRST: This is America, home of the muscle cars. Rumbling v8s and Harley bikes are freaking awesome! I am blessed to be living in this era.
SECOND: Almost everyone who is not into cars knows and appreciates the Corvette.. . .any Corvette of any year. Ask the same people about the Subaru...their likely to think station wagon. WRX is a radio station.
THIRD: Corvettes are legend my friend. I am proud to own one.
This has been an interesting thread. Me, I'm 38 now but ever since I was 18 I've had 3 Trans Ams (79,87,87) and 2 Vettes (94,95 current). I've always had a car because I liked it. I'm a pure down right car freak. Drive the family nuts and it would be worse if I had more $$$ to put into it. I've never taken an attitude of being better than anyone but I have seen it, even within the Corvette community. I'm sure you've all come across the guy that doesn't wave back when you wave to him. It is annoying and you know that's the guy who has it to be seen in it and doesn't really know what he has. Don't get me wrong, it is nice to be noticed in the car. Hopefully for good reasons. As someone else said, your going to find that kind of attitude with any kind of car that has magazines, webites, etc dedicated to it. How about this. When I bought my first Vette at 25 in 1994, I was looking at a ragtop but didn't like it with the luggage rack. The salesman says to me, "well, the guys that can afford these kind of cars don't have to be at work all the time so he throws his clubs on there and heads to the course". I bought a different one from another salesman at the same dealership. I guess my point is, there is attitude with some Vette people out there but lets not let them ruin it for the rest of us and enjoy our cars and the people we've met because of it.
For the record the WRX for what it is is a pretty cool car. Would I ever own one, probably not.

The WRX is one ricer I actually like. I still won't drive rice though. It has nothing to do with elitist attitude like someone here thinks. I have owned a '79 GP, an '87 Sunbird 4cyl., a '76 50th anniversary GP, an '88 Olds Ciera, a '77 T/A and now the Vette. I think I have earned the right to drive a sweet car. The T/A needed too much work. So did the '76 GP. The Sunbird was sssssssslllllllloooooooooooooooowwwwwwww ww. I did have the Ciera up to about 130 once following a Vette from Knoxville Tennessee. If I was in a rally car race, I would make an exception about driving rice and drive the WRX.
Talking auto cross, we teach the Vette guys to leave their ego's and expectations at the gate. These short wheelbase 4wd high horsepower to weight imports will kick your butt. When it's all over, they still wish they had a Vette. Just remember the LT-Xs also rely on higher rpm for horsepower.
In my opinion, leave the AutoX for the miatas and such.
Its not racing unless there is speeds > 100 MPH. IMHO.
AutoX is parking lot avoidance driving - defensive driving, something that should be taught in all drivers ed classes.
Road Course Racing (my favorite)>drag racing>AutoX (my least favorite)
All this said, Ive seen a guy (Jeff Swerko? -maybe spelled wrong) 'school' Miatas in AutoX his 93, bone stock, white camaro ragtop. He runs in the akron, ohio area. So if you are an extremely good autoXer you can even beat those guys.

If you had to drive in Illinois and Wisconsin in December - March you would make an exception as well.
The WRX kills 4 X4's in snow.
We had 16" of snow early this year. My driveway was not plowed and and the streets weren't either.
The WRX had no issues. Drove like a snowmobile. (AWD + Winter tires)
My co-worker who has the Benz SUV thing couldn't make it because he was snowed in.
Meanwhile... my vette was nice and warm under a blanket dreaming of spring.
I get people telling me they wish they had a vette and they are driving 45k cars. I dont know why but they do.
Tell them they can trade in straight up even with a late model C5! I told this to some rich kid driving a SC430 Lexus. He was like, "REALLY?!?!?!" He looked so interested that I'm almost sure he already did it!
i have never seen a suped up police car that had turbos and a pop can exhaust they got OUR engines in there. no thanks "ricers". kinda a little off subject but i figured id throw it in. someone send me some pics of one u can find. till then The gov. knows what the best engine is to put in the cars. 350. lT1 Ls1 Ls2
