dr. juice,
I'm looking at switching to a 'glide also.
How do you anticipate handling the tailhousing to C-beam situation?
I guess I'll have to fab something up.
???

I'm not using the C-beam now...since I went the solid axle route, I made a crosmember for the ZF6. Now I'm going to remove it and build another one, because the trans is shorter than the ZF. But I assume you can build an extension for the C-beam to fit to the trans.
No problems at all. I didn't figure it was the only back halved LTX just hadn't seen any LTX cars like that yet. Do you have pics of your car? Would love to see some.
After I saw your new pictures, I realized what you meant by 'backhalf'.
LOL, as in nothing in the back half of the car anymore!
Looks like you did a nice job on yours, I'm impressed!
Thanks...
But the most satisfying thing is, as I said before, is that I (in this case, replce "I" with "you") can launch the car as hard as I can and it goes straight and fast. No more broken parts....
To tell you the truth, after I finished with the car I tought I should've gone the way you are going. But hey, it's never to late...
Thanks...

Are you going this route???
Or something like that.....
Anyway...keep us updated.
Well I debated cutting the car up, we were originally just planning on a mini-tub w/ some ladder bars but after discussing it more with my builder I decided to just get it all done and not have to worry about it again. Now I'll be able to run any wheel/tire combo I could ever want pretty much.
I'm sure it will end up looking somewhat similar to what you show above, but it will be almost 100% fabricated by my builder, he even fabricates the rear end housing itself and it looks amazing.

The setup we sell for Abodies is very much like a latter bar setup and is pretty short and it works awesome. However you have to have everything just right with a short setup or you will have very little adjustment, since your movements will be pretty course...but it can work. Longer the arms even with a 4link just allows for finer adjustments to key in on the IC. When I did mine I spend a bunch of time locating the front brackets so that the main group of adjustment would be right in the required IC approximation. Another thing that helps is you can use the ride height of the rear as a fine tuning method to get the IC set. Just takes some time....and I am sure if your guy knows what he is doing, which it sounds like he does...he will have that all figured/planned into the setup.
You should spend some time with him talking about adjustments and he should be able to give you some ideas on how to tune it and what adjustments will move the IC to where depending on how the car reacts. I plotted mine all out on cad and used it to figure out what movements will do what. Some guys just do it on a large piece of cardboad and map it all out.
Lastly, a friend video taping your launches if your guy can't get to the track with you will help him be able to tune it in also.
Good luck.
Redl98, let me know when you want to send your piece....my car is snowed in my garage and the other one is consuming all my jackstands so I can't take any photos of mine yet. If you want to make the necessary messages and send me the piece I will TIG it up for you. Let me know...I know you were busy with finals etc....so keep me posted.

Yeah I know he uses some type of software for calculating the IC, but that is about all I know. And I'm pretty sure I can talk him into coming to the track a few times to help me out, I know he has done that with several cars he has built.
And I'm also planning on video taping for him/myself/whoever - if nothing else just to have it.
We would have cut the storage compartment/ABS compartment out to do it. I just meant cutting the WHOLE back out.
jesse said it all, nothing wrong with running short ladder bars, its just makes it harder / more time to get the car 100% where you need it than a longer one. im sure with the help of your guy it would be a walk in the park. also with the new ladder bars they have out , you have more room to play with as long as your running somthing like the one in the link ...
i`m on the market myself for a solid axle conversion kit to
i stripped my engine ,trans and rear suspension of my 86 vette
im looking at jesse`s setup [ski down it]
but this conversion is also A way to go
