That's a heavy duty cage. Are you going to tie the front end into it somehow?
Next week they'll probably start putting in the tubes toward the front of the car. It won't go through the firewall but will be connected somewhere down in the footwell area. Also there will be a removeable door bar.
I am really happy with the solid axle myself.
I'm running low tens right now and keeping the wheels about 6" off the ground. The adjustability is great
I also went with a 4L80 and pulled out my ZF. Racing is great, but driving on the street, its like driving a 600HP Tahoe. Just put in Drive and drink my coffee.
You can fumble thru my pics to see if it sparks any ideas. I did the same before we pulled the Dana
Tell your Fab guy Nice work. It's really an Art when all done.

John
Your up a little more than 6" in that sig pic.
The ZF will never come out though - I love it too much! I like shifting gears - I keep the autos for my daily drivers. For consitency in racing the auto is definitely the way to go, but I won't be doing bracket racing, just having fun, so I like the ZF.
I've "borrowed" every picture you've posted Just the ticket for my own project in the near future.
Nice work by your fabricator. gonna add some weight to be sure, but WELL worth it.
Remind me when we are all done, I've got a lot more than what you see here.
Overall the car should actually be lighter I "think" when you consider how much has been cut out of the car as well as some of the other things I'm doing. I want to weigh it when everything is complete.

my 96 CE weighed in at an amazing 3550lbs. with me in it and i wiegh around 160lbs. so i hope that gives you an idea of the weight of the car. now Ed Wright says that his car wieghs 3450lbs. with him in it and he said he was around 220lbs. i think.

Yes...it should be. Mine weighed around 3060lbs with me in it, if I'm not mistaken. So, the car w/o driver should be around 2860lbs. A few years before the conversion it weighed about 3500-3600lbs.
Yours should be lighter, due the fact I still have the frame rails in the back.
BTW... the conversion looking very neat. Like everything about it. As I told you before, wished I had gone the way you're going.
looks dam good!major mod, and a good one I wish I had the money to do the same.
I wish I had it too.
The way I look at it is, I'm never planning on selling the car. So I want to "simplify" the car absolutely as much as possible, this way me and my boys can tool around in it for the next 30 years - I'm also getting rid of all the electronics other than the PCM. So once I'm done with everything the car will more or less look the same from the outside but will be SO much simpler.
So it's definitely an expensive project, but if you plan to keep your car indefinitely, it puts it in a different light.
At least it makes me feel better when I think about it like that. Maybe I'm just rationalizing.
thats one thing i love about my car now, the car is fun to work on and my friends like working on the car now, the car was a pain before
LOL, yeah just getting rid of all the AC/heat junk and ASR/ABS junk alone makes me breathe easier. And no telling how much weight I have taken out of it.
Also I'm gonna move PCM under the dash, MSD box under the dash, battery to back - so when you pop the hood all you see is motor. As it should be . . . . . .
Probably not for everyone, but for me it's a no-brainer. If my car was a daily driver it might be different. . . . .
By the way did you ever get some pics of your car? I would love to see some!
