Good job qws! Thinking of doing this with my 84 with drag shocks and soft springs. Unsure whether to trust the flimsy looking shock towers.
Thanks...but it was really because of agent86 thread that pushed me in this direction.
As far as the strength of the shock tower, I read a thread by plrx on another site that convinced me that they are stronger than we think.

I'll let you drive it for a few months. If your car isn't sitting on your tires, I might give it a try. Let me know if they collapse though. Remember, I coming down from bumper touching launches.
I just ordered ths kit from a1 racing products for the frnt with 10" 475lb hyperco springs. The shocks i ordered from summit, new bilsten sports.
And ordered some new moog upper and lower ball joints and global west uppper and lower a-arm del-lum bushings to free up the arms.
Where is the contact area ? Bracket tweaking/grinding is not going to work ?
Me too, however you should see where in the pic below. I'm not spending the money for a new heim. I'm just gonna drill a couple of holes, relocate the sway bar and let that pull the heim forward.
Ya, I'm not forking out any cash for a heim, either. Your pic angle doesn't really give me a clear idea of how much and where.
I may make some sort of offset bracket, rather than move the bar, time will tell. I'm still fighting the shock eye removal on the rear.

Its not so much the bracket that's hitting, its the sway bar itself that's touching the spring

Dan, If you like, PM me your email address and I'll send you pics of the swaybar offset blocks my road racer buddy Superlund made up for me.
Width would be determined by snap ring. Bilstein uses a .059 thick snap ring.
Here are Bilstein's part numbers for the correct snap rings for the early factory Bilsteins.
46mm part number is 2522880 and the 36mm is 2522870
Call Wes at Bilstein in San Diego, he could probably make it all happen and ship you complete coil-overs.
Are these the numbers you guys used? The coilover sleeve kit i ordered from a1 race products came with a snap ring but its like .100 wide and is a rounded snap ring.
Are your snap ring retainers rounded n edges or do they have squared edges?
Also, how far up from bottom of shock did you guys machine center of groove?
Thanks guys!

My snap rings from Bilstein are flat with square edges. I haven't machined any grooves yet, as my project is a slow simmering one.
