I just pulled mine the other day to replace it with an underdrive. Luckily it was a Professional Products balancer with the three bolt holes and my Harbor Freight puller pulled it right off with no issues.

Got all the rods and pistons out. Bagged and labeled a lot of bolts. I can't get the rear cover off because I don't have my engine hoist. I need to get it back from my cousin. I am ready to pull main caps and the crank once I get the rear cover off.

Typically I run 28-30 deg's on 94 octane gas. You have any spark/rpm curve/maps for your car Krusty. I just looked at a GM 05 LS2 tune on EFI live they pull any where between 40 deg of timing to 20 deg's of timing depending on rpm and engine mass flow.

Hard to say what timing you running. There is even a table for intake temp vs spark timing vs engine rpm

I could pull the spark plugs and put a bore scope into the cylinder to check. I wasn't too worried as I was planning building another engine.

I am talking max wide open throttle timing. I don't have a curve to look at but it is 13.5° at idle, 22-24° WOT ~2500 + rpm depending on IAT and up to ~40-42° while part throttle cruising. I don't have a tuner to post a map, I am simply looking at the real time spark advance on the Torque Pro app with my ODBII dongle.

I wouldn't be too worried either, your map looks ~20° or less at WOT.

Krusty, my car is speed density, so who know how close or far off that I'm from the 05 corvette curve. Curious if all of the torque management has been removed from your ecm? Most have some if your ecu was off an auto car. Not sure how your tuner converted it. You could be correct I could be running to much timing at wot. I also add fuel on my AFR ratio during acceleration. I bet most of your timing numbers are for heavier vehicles that are worked (pulling heavy loads/trailers).

Pwnage, you have any more pictures of the pistons? Looks like that motor has some miles on it.

I see, that isn't your curve. Got it. Yeah, base tuning on LS engines is pretty damn low. The graph you posted looks like 18-20° at WOT. Which sounds correct.

Are you running a knock sensor? Tons and tons of people run into knock retard when they run above 26-27° with cathedral ports. Maybe yours likes the timing, I have no idea.

I run 93 octane and the 411 PCM I have is probably from a manual car as it throws the P0704 clutch switch code from time to time. Previous owner used EFI Live to tune it.

Curious if you have looked into LS2 pistons with the LS3 valve reliefs.

The only pistons I found are from Mahle PT# L92314030F04 and 4.030 bore/3.622 stroke, but they are pricey. If I purchased those beauties I will also get a set of the fancy H-beam rods also. Of course it would be a near bullet proof bottom end motor at that point, ready for some boost.

https://www.texas-speed.com/p-1140-m...ength-4cc.aspx

You could also just buy the standard bore LS3 pistons 4.065 bore and get 376 cid, LS3 pistons are going to be half the price of those forged Mahle.

Typically you can find the Ls2/LQ9 pistons half price of the LS3 pistons, but then you would have to machine in valve reliefs which would weaken the piston some.

I got my engine hoist back (broken) so once I put a new hydraulic ram on it I'll be able to get the rear cover off this thing and get the crank out.

After that it's off to the machine shop for a hot tank. Probably won't get to it until the 26th or so

I guess you lent it out and then it was returned broken? I hate that and is why I generally don't lend out tools anymore.

Borrowed to my cousin. He's gonna pay half for the new Ram. He at least told me it was broken prior to bringing it back and offered to pay full price for it, I'm okay with splitting the cost. It's only $25. **** happens

Giver her hell Krusty, hope you kill the dyno buddy.

I was boring, I just mocked up my C6 cold air intake over my aftermarket rad. Tons of room for a turbo or supercharger.

Dang, its would be hell of a strong 250 rwhp.

I bet you be close to the 450-500 rwhp area. Worst case just spray her with some juice 100-200 HP shot would just wake her right up and make everyone watch.

I got my engine crane back, bought a new ram, and it was naturally a different style of mounting so I fabbed up a bracket.

Crane is now ready to use, but I picked up a few side jobs to generate some money. Currently doing brakes on a 2013 Equinox then I'll be back into my own stuff.

Plan is still to get the crank out and then take the block in for cleaning. I might have the shop check the bores for round while its there, so they can bore it right away if necessary.
