Car is having a (wiring) meltdown...
Jim informed me that my harness is done and will most likely be shipped tomorrow. So that's some good news as well.
I am thinking about dying the carpet as one of the last steps. I have different colors going on inside the car, green, gray, black and red. All washed out but the carpet itself is in good condition.
tomorrow will be mostly cleaning removed plastic parts. I also removed the ugly looking carbon fiber vinyl someone put everywhere.
The lever that adjusts heat is working again but still needs some adjustment. It was never broken or dirty, it was just misadjusted and that little door by the heater core had jumped out of its anchor and didn't open/close properly.
Most of the screws I removed are the same, just different head styles. I think I will just get a bag of new ones.
So for now the only question that's still open is whether anything else was done to the ignition system to prevent the car from starting with a key. As a reminder, someone had installed a push button to start engine and disabled the start with key turn (it still required the key to turn the ignition on though)

For now I just routed everything neatly and away from any heat source. Once done I will start connecting everything.
The only issue I am having so far is getting the driver side firewall connectors back in. The bottom went in without issue, the top one is not cooperating. Plus there is that hard to get to bolt in the center...
A set of new interior screws is arriving today which means I can make the dashboard stuff pretty and finish that up.
I am going to pull the carpet next, will replace with different color. Going tan.
While I am waiting for the carpet to arrive I will continue work on the engine harness. I also want to pull the valve covers to replace gaskets and make it easier to move the engine to TDC before the distributor goes back in. Still a lot to do but there is an end in sight.
carpet removed, dashboard and other components installed, engine TDC to get distributor in and assembly of engine stuff. New plugs as well. Have to clean air plenum first, else I would have installed it as well.
also ordered some more parts.
Had distributor in, lined up and all buttoned up but then realized it was not pointing to #1 but 2 instead. Was looking at the pic the wrong way. Had to redo but no big deal.
The serpentine belt was cracked in several places so a new one will be ordered as well.
The smog air pump wobbles a little. Not sure yet what to do there.
belt...

Before I do that I am going to run new vacuum lines.
All wiring is away from heat sources.
Bought an unused carpet set on eBay for $55 last night. Once it's here I can finish up the interior.
Also replaced the oxygen sensor.
i have a question about the vacuum lines because the way it was is not what I found online and diagrams. Just need clarification.
The fuel pressure regulator and one of the air plenum ports go into a T connector and to the air control valve, correct?
and the other port goes to the HVAC line coming from inside the car.
I am asking because I saw pics online where the fuel pressure regulator goes straight to a port.
On my car it was routed differently. The FPR went to the HVAC line and both ports went to the air control valve.
Oh, one more thing: the one side of the EGR solenoid is open and nothing connects there? It's the side that has some sort of clamps.
Thanks

Still fighting that firewall connector on driver side. Wanted to unplug again to see why it's being difficult and won't go on. But now I can't pull it back out either. Grrrr.
the only other question I could think of right now is what the console power window switches look like. I'd take a pic from you if you have, but could google as well. The bezel that goes in there has gaps left and right. Not sure if that's supposed to be like that (dirt will easily get in there)

Although I have a 93 lt1 my vacuum hose goes from the FPR to the manifold. I would not think you would want to share the vacuum with another device.
Right, the only 'problem' is that I would lose a port and would have to splice in HVAC from the other port (with line going to the front of car).
Right now I have it set up like this, which matches the shroud sticker. I'll leave it like this for now but will keep this in mind in case I am seeing issues.
the connector will not stay on the knock sensor. I might have to replace the sensor at some point. There is plastic missing and the connector can't snap on. I'll try to attach it somehow for now.
I started routing the spark plugs wires but will spend more time to get a clean look. Pics will follow.
my carpet was supposed to get here yesterday but post office routed it to a different location. Ugh. But at least this will give me time to fix the one or two cracked plastic pieces that go behind the carpet.
Good news is that my iggee seat covers will arrive today. Didn't want to spend to much money on covers and I think they will do fine for now.
Tomorrow morning I am going over everything again and will most likely attempt to start the car. A bit scary after all this work but everything should be good.
I still have not found anything yet that might have been done to prevent the car from starting with key back then.
So this is my biggest concern right now but I guess I'll find out soon enough.
Started glueing it to the center console side trims.
The rest of the car needs to be done piece by piece.
Here a pic where I just loosely fitted everything

having issues getting the iggee seat covers on the bottom seat cushion. Back part was easy. Decided to step away from it and try again tomorrow.
Car looks new and way better than before.
Knock sensor will arrive today which means I am almost at a point where I can start up the car for the first time.
I have new shocks ready to go in as well. Since I have to lift the car to get it off the ramps I'll install them while wheels are in air.

I can't tell from the photo, but if any of your plastic and vinyl is faded on the interior, I highly recommend SEM paint products. They will make it look new and they're designed for car interiors. Landau black is the exact color match for the black in these cars. I used it to update the interior of mine and it looks great and lasts well. Since you're putting in so much work, I thought I'd mention it.
