Good, a true car enthusiast.

I don't understand how someone can hate a $30k sedan that can haul the family, is rock solid reliable, can do some light offroading, and can give a C5 Corvette a damn good run for its money. This is the Swiss Army Knife of the performance car world.

Now I understand that some people hate Japanese cars no-matter-what, and are angry at Japan over WWII... But many of them love Ferrari, Lamborghini, and even MBZ and BMW. wtf

I bought a new Subaru a couple of years ago and hated it. The seats were so uncomfortable that I took a beating and traded the d..m thing in 4 months later, just to get rid of it. Tore my back up.

with pretty much every point you make.

As you can see from my sig, I have two very different vehicles. The folks in the Miata club are always talking about how mean-spirited and xenophobic the Corvette owners are. I don't understand what they are talking about until I venture into these forums.

I just love the threads that bash the Porsche and BMW owners who put down Corvettes. Those same people then turn around and bash other marquees and think it's .

.01, that's all there advertising company could come up with? No wonder every driver I see has a look on there face like "Ya, It's butt ugly, but hay, some AD geek says I'm .01 faster than you" Gimmie a effin break! There's no substute for class AND speed. You can't compare apples to road apples. See you at the Subaru Museum? Just my $.02, if ya like 'um buy 'um

I wonder if the WRX owners are so happy/enthusiastic with their purchases that they wave at each other?------yeah, I didn't think so.

Actually, the wave is very much alive in the Subaru community.

I spend a lot of time on several Subie boards...

I've been to both types of GTGs.

Here are the general differences: Speaking for 80% of the population, accounting for 20% being the total opposite of what I say here:

Subaru guys are typically 18-30
Vette Guys are typically 30-60

Subaru guys stand around comparing turbo, suspension, and "JDM" styling changes.
Vette Guys compare floor mats, aftermarket leather, and engine bling.

Subaru Guys like to put Rally Car fog lights on their cars
Vette Guys like to make their coupes and convertibles look like Z06s

Subaru guys are impolite in a social setting, and like to rib each other, A LOT
Vette Guys are grumpy.

Subaru vendors find cool inexpensive stuff for the car, and sell it with a small profit.
Vette vendors find $3.99-8.99 stuff at local hardware stores, call it 'engineered for Corvettes' and sell it for up to ten times the cost.

Subaru guys are much more likely to race their car.
Vette guys are much more likely to wax their car.

Subaru guys talk about how cool random types of cars are.
Vette guys talk about how random types of cars are not Vettes.

Now before anyone gets butthurt, remember this only accounts for 8/10 of the folks I've met at either kind of get together.

Obviously there are many subaru owners who are only interested in "STI-ing" up their regular wrx (which is no different from z06-ing up a regular coupe, mho) and there are vette guys who only wax to keep the brake dust from getting imbedded on track day.

Don't take things too seriously on this board. Mostly everyone here own Vettes, but most don't know much about cars in general. I only browse here for mod ideas and to look at the pic threads, but go elsewhere to get factual information on automobiles in general.

The STi is a great car and would chose one over a regular C5 auto for sure. The STi wins in every category, but looks.

You, sir, are the one that stated that MOST everyone on this forun knows little about cars in general.

It is your job to prove that you are right!

How can you make such a generalized question about thousands of people.
You are only showing YOUR ignorance by insulting most of us!

Yeah, who the **** would want something like that?

PS, the Subaru WRX's Boxer engine sounds much meaner than the LS1. It doesn't sound farty at all. In fact, its a deeper, richer sound entirely than the LS1.

I'm really disappointed by how ignorant and xenophobic many Corvette people insist on being.
Wow. You think that a WRX sound better than a lsx based car? A WRX is in no way deeper sounding than a lsx car. A world class rally car? The orignal poster was not talking about who would win in a rally race but which car is faster. It all depends on the driver. If you look at times magazines claim that cars run your are sadly mistaken. The times that magazines claim cars run are always much slower or sometimes biased to certain cars. Also to the orignal poster...why is your friend comparing a brand new WRX to a 2001 a4? Your car isnt even an a4. WRX are plain gay and ugly, any way your look at it. WRX=ricer

Remember SUBARU spelled backwards is URA BUS.
I wonder if the WRX will be around in 53 years??

Yeah a real legend in its time.

Which is faster... WRX top speed is 155
2001 corvette coupe 175

Math was not my best subject but that comes out to 20 MPH faster in my book.

End of discussion..

What's the deal with the WRX? A guy I work with owns a Altima SE-R and was thinking about trading it for a WRX STi. He went on travel to Cali and said he took a ride in a WRX and was super fast with all the upgraded bells and whistles. Out drove Vettes and what so ever.

It was just funny how we had this conversation and now I see more talk over it.

I simply told him that there was no comparison, it was two very different type of cars. Rally vs Street racer. You don't see WRX STi in Lemans 12 or Rolex 24 and winning.... in fact... I think Ford Focus has won most of the last couple of big time rally races.

It is definately the driver, not the car. Look at Danika Patrick, she would whoop my *** in racing, even if I had a faster car than hers.

STI is speed limited, though at 300hp and worse aerodynamics than the Vette, and its gearing set up, I doubt the car's computer speed limitation is really the factor limiting it. Even if it were geared for top speed, I bet it couldn't do much over 165. Aerodynamics are a bitch. .33 vs the Vette's .28

One thing I know I can always count on here is the mature and objective discourse that such a topic creates.

Calling a car "gay?" What are you, twelve?

Not cheaper first off! and no you can't compare a Auto to a M6 in this equation.

Must be equal!

Thanks,Matt

I have season tickets for a local AHL Hockey team. I go to a lot of games. I applaud when the other team makes a great play. I like to see "my" team win, but I really don't care if they win or lose. I like the GAME of hockey. I like to see the good players, the new players and how the game changes.

Similiar analogy for what we do with our cars.

::laughing:: Since this is a CORVETTE forum..we obviously like them...and in most cases, more than any other vehicle that we could afford...or we would have that other vehicle...and some of us do. A few of us in here own a BMW that costs a LOT more than the corvette we own, but if we had to only have one car for our own personal use...which one would it be? A different car for different people for different reasons. To MOD or not to MOD. Bullets or Corsa Touring. A few of the cars in FAST & FURIOUS were friggin hot cars. Would I want one...hell yeah. Would I give up my vette for one...I might...depends. We own these cars because we like driving them, modding them, waxing them, talking about them and for me its just damn cool. All of it. I friggin love my corvette. But I could easily drive something else if I liked it better. For me it has nothing to do with owning a legend. I could give a rats a$$. A vette I've seen that is my favorite one to date didn't have any corvette badges. The car looked amazing without them.

It's the CORVETTE FORUM, Love It or Leave It? I'm stickin' around.

I own a corvette becase I love the beautiful style. I don't care what is faster,or do I knock what someone else drives. There are many arrogant azzes on this forum who think because they own a corvette they can look down their nose at everything else. Gee, I wonder why I don't wave to others. Do you wonder why people spit or throw stuff on our cars. Check your attitudes at the door and grow up.
