Getting old SUCKS!!!!

Wayne, I haven't heard that phrase for quite a while. Probably before I understood what it really meant, but it's all too clear to me now. That "You only are as old as you feel" crap had to have come from someone in denial. Doing well, But have been a lot better!
At least we'll have memories of what it was like to drive a Corvette when fuel was only $4.00 a gallon...better than memories of what it was like to own an import when fuel was $20.00 a gallon.
TOBY KEITH LYRICS
"As Good As I Once Was"
She said, "I'e seen you in here before."
I said, "I've been here a time or two."
She said, "Hello, my
Name is Bobby Jo
Meet my twin sister Betty Lou
And we're both feeling kinda wild tonight
And you're the only cowboy in this place
And if you're up for a rodeo
We'll put a big Texas smile on
Your face"
I said, "Girls,"
[Chorus]
I ain't as good as I once was
I got a few years on me now
But there was a time back in my prime
When I could really lay it down
And if you need some love tonight
Then I might have just enough
I ain't as good as I once was
But I'm as good once as I ever was
I still hang out with my best friend dave
Ive known him since we were kids at school
Last night he
Had a few shots
Got in a tight spot hustlin' a game of pool
With a couple of redneck boys
One great
Big bad biker man
I heard David yell across the room
"Hey buddy, how 'bout a helping hand."
I said, "Dave,"
[Chorus]
I ain't as good as I once was
My how the years have flown
But there was a time back in my prime
When I could really hold my own
But if you wanna fight tonight
Guess thouse boys dont look all that
Tough
I ain't as good as I once was
But I'm as good once as I ever was
I used to be hell on wheels
Back when I was younger man
Now my body says, "You can't do this boy"
But my pride says, "Oh, yes you can
I ain't as good as I once was
Thats just the cold hard truth
I still throw a few back, talk a little smack
When I'm feelin bullet proof
So don't double dog dare me now
'Cause I'd have to call your bluff
I ain't as good as I once was
But I'm as good once as I ever was
Maybe not be good as I once was
But I'm as good once as I ever was

I remember when I was bummed to pay 32 cents for premium to keep my 66' Chevelle SS 396 happy.I hit the 55 speed limit this week and have no problems, everything works as good as it always did. Looking back I must say that ........
I would rather be old and wiser than young and stupid.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
PS one good thing - my insurance is only $234.00 for 6 mo's for my 02 - so i guess the above is all worth it

I'm 68 and still working part time (Gotta pay for them mods). So, you get a little pain here and there. Go out and rub on the Vette, you'll forget about it.
I still get a laugh out of parking in a handicap spot in my Vette and
getting my walker out of the back and just enjoying the look on
peoples faces.............
Life ain't over til it's over
My job is very physically involved (walking all day long & up/down platforms/stairs). I keep telling myself "This IS my exercise program"
Only two things can occur..... 1) This job will keep me physically fit the rest of my life OR 2) My bones, muscles, joints will all require surgery and replacement before I retire! Flip a coin?
Life is good and I can't complain......
Where's my ibruprofen?

I'll be 54 in a couple of months, here's me and my Z06 last summer.

Life is a journey and since no one has a crystal ball the future is uncertain. There are no guarantees, no road maps, and your successes are what you have made.
Several years ago I was going through life without incident. My wife and I have two kids, home, all what I consider a normal life, when without warning, I was diagnosed with cancer, talk about getting slapped!!
I was 47 at the time and suddenly realized this thing we call life is not permanent and there is a finality to it. I had 2 different kinds and so far everything's fine, I beat both of them. I guess the old saying does hold some truth; only the good die young. Looks like I'll be around for a long, long time.
Enjoy the ride......
Just remember, no one gets off this planet alive....
