I would say it is somewhat similar to the sound that cell phones make when placed near powered speakers. That always reminds me of Dr. Evil doing the Macarena.
I don't have this issue. Are you folks that have it connected to the trunk changer or the back of the head unit? I am at the back of the head unit.

I basically fed the cable from trunk charger connector, under the carpet to the waterfall and the down the center console right by the handbrake and out. I"ll post some pics if I get the chance. Can't see that there would be any electrical interference??? But I'm no expert!!!

It's routed back over the wheel well in my coupe, right next to the old cable that was going to the CD changer.
I've always just assumed it was the electronics in the IPod2Car itself. But what do I know. It's not worth tearing things apart again to try to track it down. On normal music it's not noticeable.
I do not have the CD changer in my 02. Therefore am waiting on my PXHGM4. What do my dip switch setting need to be on? The same as PXHGM2 which would be #3 - on and #8 - on all the rest off.
I would assume it's a different order.

After reading several reports about high pitch interference, when I install my PXHGM4, I will take the time to wrap all the 3 leads in strips of alluminium cooking foil.
I think the interference may be more to do with induced harmonics, as the various's cables and internal harness's all carry power to a degree.
This can be inducted into the PXHGM4.
This then could find its way into the amplifyer input to the Bose, and walla, interference.
This will stop the interference.
I use tin foil on my head at night, to stop the voices. ... ... ... ...
I crack myself up.

Pretty easy if you have a CD changer in the trunk. Unplug the CD changer, plug in the PXHGM2 adapter cable into the connector. Plug the other end into the IPOD2Car and route the cable.
It is a bit more difficult if you do not have the trunk changer. Use the excellent instructions in the link below to remove the console. Then remove 4 volts that hold in the stock head unit. Slide the unit out and hook up the PXHGM4 cable into the back of the unit and to the wiring harness that was removed. See earlier post for detailed instrucions with pics.

Routing the cable is the hard part. I found that it would have been easier to plug in behind the HU instead of the trunk like I did. I ended up having to pull the console anyway to get the cable into the armrest.
Yes I have that too. The sound you're hearing is interference from digital electronics. Since the iPod does not have this when it's used with headphones, and the Corvette CD changer did not have this problem, that leaves the iPod2Car as the culprit. The design is not properly shielded, or something like that. There's probably nothing you can do about it.
Actually what you're hearing is the iPod's hard drive spinning (RF interference). Maybe you can fix that with an noise reducer. But is not a garantee...

I have the Nano and I can hear it too when no music is playing and the volume is up.

No it's definitely not the hard drive. As the guy with the nano says. The hard drive spins up and down. This noise I hear is continuous.
