I just bought my iSimple from Best Buy tonight, cashed in a ton of reward zone points and basically got it for free! Installing it tomorrow morning, this thread has some great info!
I love my IPOD2CAR but when the volume is up fairly loud and there's a quiet part of the song or an intro, I can hear a high pitch beeping.
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know how to get rid of it? Is it something to do with the DIP switches?
Try setting the backlight to stay on rather than the auto 10 second shut-off. I have never noticed the problem in the vette but in the other car I hear a lot of noise when the back light on the iPod (this one is a 60gb ipod video) turns off. When I touch the wheel to wake it back up the noise goes away.

Sound like a good idea, I'll give it a try and let you know. Thanks for the idea

I leave my backlight on all the time and I still get the noise.

Very You're gonna love it.
My CD's are sitting around in a carrier in the house somewhere.
You might want to check the temperature in your console, I have read where someone else used theirs there, and the battery died, then the disc warped. I put my hand in the console after driving it only a few miles, it was hotter than hell in there. My next step is to install the insulation kit from Crazy Cowboy. Then I will see if it's still too hot to store it in there. Until that time, I just lay it next to the shifter. David
After reading several reports about high pitch interference, when I install my PXHGM4, I will take the time to wrap all the 3 leads in strips of alluminium cooking foil.
I think the interference may be more to do with induced harmonics, as the various's cables and internal harness's all carry power to a degree.
This can be inducted into the PXHGM4.
This then could find its way into the amplifyer input to the Bose, and walla, interference.
.
As I stated before, the foil will help. I put it on my head at night to stop the voices.
. .. .. ..

Ok, I got it in and so far so good, sound quality is nice. Can you change anything other than skipping forward or back songs? Can you skip to different playlists? What all does this thing do?

That's about all you can do. You have to use the IPOD controls to change playlists and things like that.

Skipping forward and back is it, and some of us have reported strange behavior even with that functionality.
That's why I have the ProClip mount for mine, it keeps the iPod handy for stuff like changing playlists, pausing, picking a certain song or artist, etc.
If you are an IPOD person and haven't done the IPOD2car mod yet, do it. I got mine installed yesterday with the help of forum member GTC. Actually, he did most of the work.
It is incredible, thousands of CD quality songs coming through my stock stereo. I put the IPOD in the console and control it with my stock stereo controls. It also charges the IPOD.
I created a couple of playlists last night. One for driving tunes and let my wife create one of the songs that I have that she likes. Today we went for a nice cruise. She even suggested taking a long route home.
I have a stock Bose head unit without the in trunk changer. I bought a Peripherals IPOD2 car adapter and a PHXGM4 cable. Remove the console and dash cover. Remove the stock stereo, pull one connector and replace it with one from the PHXGM4. Plug one of the cables from the PHXGM4 into the wiring harness and the other end into the IPOD2car. Then a cable from the IPOD2 car into the IPOD and you are good to go. There are a couple of switch settings. For my application, it was switches 3 and 8.
I think you will need a different cable and possibly different switch setting if you have the trunk changer.

I just installed an IPOD in my Avic D3 equipped Vert yesterday and kicked myself all last night for not doing this a long time ago! I up loaded 156 songs mixed from numerous CD albums in just a few hours and have a car free from CDs all over the place. Amazing technology. It seems I'm always a bit late in format changes.
