IPOD2 Car
How many owners leave their ipods plugged in at all times?
I noticed that even when the car is off the Ipod it still being charged...does it ever shutoff completely because I do not want to drain the car's battery. In my G35 with a different unit, once you turn the car off the ipod is placed on pause and turns off.

hopefully we'll see this item at our door next week
Dave,
Those will be in stock again on Wednesday.
You may order now or wait for the item to show "in stock".
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Jay Coban

Dave, I guess I got lucky I hope. I ordered as soon as I found out where the OP got it from, they e-mailed me a shipping confirmation. Also got the ipod2car off e-bay for $50 and it shipped as well

Get a holder, mount it ware you feal its right. The tape was no good and glew was ok for a week or two. Two screws worked grate for holding it in place.
Save the pic and zoom in.
Pretty easy mod.Paul G.

The PXHGM4 cable came today, that was fast. I just need to wait for my ipod2car to come.
I bought mine about a week after I got the car.
I prefer to use a mount for the iPod because I frequently get in the mood to listen to something specific, so I need the iPod to be easily accessible.

the iPOD2Car is the best method for connecting to the BOSE system in the Vette (especially if compared to the FM xmitter).
PXHGM4
IPOD2Car
GM iSimple
GMH20T
Peripheral PXDP
I have a CD Changer that I would gladly do without (and may then sell). There's a cable attached to it that I'm thinking I would then connect to one of the cables, above, and route it under the channel to the car interior, as shown by UnionLandlord.
Question: Seems the GM iSimple is all I need, and it even seems to have a holder for the iPod to click into. Will that be all I need, so that I need not be concerned with the IPOD2CAR or the PXHGM4? Is the BestBuy solution the best?
Meanwhile, you all may like this ProClip hookup that I use sometimes in the C5 for my Garmin GPS iQue 3600. It clicks onto the dashboard alongside the headunit, and you can attach any peripheral device you want. I modified my own Garmin adaptor to attach to the ProClip, but they make every adaptor you would need to attach to the base, including for iPods...these then fit into the ProClip. It need not be glued or permanently affixed to the dashboard...it just clicks in and out easily.
This is from the ProClip website...note the clip mounted to the right of the headunit.

http://www.proclipusa.com/ then navigate using the "vehicle mounts" on the menu on the left. Can find a mount for iPod by navigating in "device mounts." You need both, unless you want to modify the vehicle mount like I did for my GPS.

I think I did everything backwards cause all I need now is an Ipod

I plan to get the 30g
PS - I won't be on the CT run, I'll be upstate for the weekend... have fun
Interesting sentence. Couple of questions: Is the plastic housing through which you put the screws available as an extra part, so that you can replace it if/when you sell the car or change to the "next" iPod, and also, do you need to avoid wiring or components related to the T/C underneath that plastic piece?
Thanks.

Your sentence was rather loooooooong. The T/c panel is about $20 sometimes in parts for sale. I did not want to do it but it was in the best place. When I sell the Vette it will come w/ the Ipod to car anyway.
Yes you need to avoid wiring or components related to the T/C.
I used small 3/8 " zip screws. Used mostlly for metal studs. Thay grab real good.
*80 gigs and video ill never need the next Ipod.

I have the IPOD in the console now, but am considering moving it so that I can choose playlists without pulling it out of the console.
Plus, a little black nano with a color screen popping out of nowhere looks pretty cool.
1 of my favorite mods so far.

I thare was a better place for it. I use mine all the time. Like what was said do not keep in in a hot spot.
BTW
Im going to be in Austin again around the 1st for a week or so.
Ill keep an eye out for you.
Im not taking the vette.Paul G.
